Universal time estimate for projects:
About 15 minutes, give or take 6 months.

This article about making more sustainable clothing choices points out that by wearing a garment twice as many times as the average before discarding it, the environmental impact is lessened by 49%.

It goes on to say that it's hard to get numbers on what average is, but one survey estimates clothes get worn seven times. Looking at all the factors, I understand it. But thinking about how little 14 wears is, 7 hammers home the frantic pace of it all.

boosts ok, question about homelessness

hey can someone please help me out with advice if you have been through this?

I am most likely going to be houseless soon. How can i best prepare?

I like storms, but the one we had yesterday was frightening. It sounded like our house was being pelted with rocks and our garden was badly damaged. It’s reported four people lost their lives, so I consider us very lucky indeed. What I’m concerned about is this becoming a more frequent occurrence as we rocket upwards towards the 1.5°C threshold.

Really sorry to see Vangelis go. I saw Blade Runner at a young age, and that soundtrack really stuck with me. I'd estimate 50% of the music I enjoy has been touched by that record. Still, 79 is a good innings, and from the outside it looks like he lived life on his own terms. Hard to ask for much more than that.

French poli, terrible joke

Please tell me Élisabeth Borne is Jason’s fascist crushing, socialist aunt.

In seemingly a matter of hours, it’s gone from cold spring to hot summer here in Toronto. Pleasant and disconcerting all at once.

Later than usual, but they’re finally here.

@xmtz Oh, I’m always trying. But I often go back to the things I love — like BoC or Steve Hauschildt. I just don’t want to become too set in my ways. Some of that music is over twenty years old! (It’s hard to believe how time flies.)

@oatmealraisin My daughter says they sound creepy and weird, so I took that as a good sign. 😂

@xmtz I agree! I guess as I get older, I worry more about listening to the same things over and over instead of finding something new like I used to. I doubt myself.

@brainwise Best Doctor in my humble opinion. I have a scarf just like his. 🙂

I was listening to Boards of Canada on the way to work this morning, and I started to think, "Are they still cool?" Now that I'm firmly in middle age, I'm keenly aware that music I enjoyed when I was young may now be stuffy, tired, and old. It's a fine line between iconic and cliched it seems.

A soft steady drizzle falling here coating everything in tiny water crystals. Perfect time to share another flower photo with you all. #flowers #photography #peony
