Heard a phrase today that was "anything worth doing is worth doing poorly" and yes.

What's a good book to learn assembly (probably x86?)?

However, I have now created an offline version of this and have access to an offline version of the C reference ( so I can unplug from the world and see if I can build my own LISP style language.

This month I think I'm going to participate in the Libre Music Challenge. But I'm going to do it all using my own open source tools like sndkit and gest.

The theme is 80s newwave/synthwave, using only 'wavetable synths' and drum samples. Any effects are encouraged.

I've never made a synthwave track before. If you have any faves, please share!

So I followed this tutorial on how to write a text editor in C:

I called mine Ceditor and the little endorphin kick I got when it compiles was waaaay more satisfying than moving images and text around a website using CSS + JS.

So I'm learning C instead. Via books. Because it makes me feel good doing this. And I'm old and books are good.

I'm also going to be using my editor to write C as well. Something something dogfooding something something

The traffic is back to pre-pandemic levels. We had a opportunity to change the world for the better. I feel like we have learned nothing. This makes me sad and angry. And so I am trying to.

🎤 I am planning to make some videos testing various audio interfaces with Linux, focusing on "bedroom producers". 🎵

However - I need YOU to answer a few questions before I can begin my work.

Your input will help me choose devices to buy. Please take some time to research the options - there's a lot that you may have not heard about, that could present great value.

PS: Feel free to boost this toot :)

Does anybody know if it’s possible to follow Twitter folks from Mastodon without building a bot?

I’d like to follow Open Culture and The Long Now Foundation. They’re basically the only two profiles I miss.

Today, I have got Real Life™️ followed by a dinner of home made Tuscan bean soup followed by an evening of diving deep into C.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Fugazi recently and so that’s probably going to be the soundtrack to my day.

Good morning one and all. How are we doing today?

This is possibly one of my favourite websites. One interesting researched unusual thing a day.

But it does look like there's a massive leap in knowledge from riverboats to sailboats. Gonna have to hunt out some sort of knowledge bank of sailing round the UK and across the channel to France & Europe.

Been looking at boats. Sailing boats in particular. I can pick up one around 30' that was built in the 80s for <£10,000. Which seems pretty good to me. Quite happy to do some work on it as I'm pretty handy with tools.

If you're looking for a chance to get paid to write meaningful open source software, here's one of those rare opportunities. Fully remote.

We're hiring additional software engineers to join the SecureDrop team, an open source platform to protect journalists & whistleblowers. Our posting outlines the specific skillsets we're looking for:

If this describes you, please get in touch! Happy to answer questions.

Listening to Fugazi and wondering whether they actually like their stuff available on corporation websites.

What’s a good decentralised or open alternative to Spotify etc that I can put music on?

People who use why do you like it?

I don't want to , am thinking of . I just want to host code, nothing fancy.
