Welcome to 2022! Here's to a great year for the LibreOffice community – and with many awesome things to come! 😍

I am looking to upgrade my phone. I am also staring down my 40s. One of the phones that ticks a lot of boxes for me is an Asus "Republic of Gamers" phone. But I am left wondering if buying this phone for myself will make me look like a dorkass. Not that I am really worried about that, or really need any help... just kinda happens on it's own.

Opera for Linux has this funky little problem where the libffmpeg.so it comes with doesn't work with most websites, so videos don't play on some pages, but if I update the file with the one from Chromium, those websites crash instead.

There seems to be an issue with Opera for Linux where many pages I regularly use are crashing for no known reason. Started a few days ago, browser has updated since, still seems to be an issue. Gives me a chance to try out all the other browsers for a bit, though!

I gotta hand it to Microsoft, they make it damn near impossible to reach someone that might actually be able to help me with an issue I am having. So many menus, so many questions, still no help. Bravo, to whoever designed this support page!

That said, I have found the fediverse to be less of a Twitter replacement and more… something else. Less of a river of information and the thrill of ideological conflict, and more a chill place to talk about technology and software.

A dichotomy of user-hostile software:

- Mainstream software: user-hostile because it has a dozen popups trying to upsell you / accept cookies / grant permission to sell your data
- OSS software: user-hostile because it expects you to know how to use GPG to sign a certificate on the command line, and fuck you if you don't know what any of those words mean

This is a pretty interesting site, puts a lot of legal jargon in an easy to understand way. Good thing to keep bookmarked. tosdr.org

I don't wanna sound like a dork, but, I switched my Windows laptop to the Bing daily wallpaper and it is actually pretty great! Beautiful selection of photos, haven't had a weird one I didn't fully enjoy yet!

I bought a bunch of those webcam privacy covers, and they fit on most every device around here, even my tablet! But my main laptop, a Dell XPS 13, has such a thin bezel it doesn't stick. I wonder what I could possibly do besides keeping a piece of tape stuck there.

For an assignment I need to answer questions 1, 4, 5, and 7. But WPS Office for Linux keeps changing the 7 to a 6, no matter how many times I go back and erase it, and I can't seem to figure out a way to solve this rather simple issue.

Had a black border around context menus in Opera, and the thing that fixed it was turning off hardware acceleration in the settings. I don't get it, but glad it was an easy fix!

I would really love to have something like a Pomera DM100 to use for writing, but I feel like I don't write nearly enough to make it seem like a worthwhile purchase. But! Maybe if I owned it, I would feel compelled to write more!

It seems like a slow creep at times, but I am finding more and more sites are nearly unusable when visiting with an ad blocker on. It is like the ads and content are served from the same exact CDN.

This is the most fun and enjoyable rhythm games I have played since Floor Kids. Friday Night Funkin is definitely funky! ninja-muffin24.itch.io/funkin

My browser of choice, Opera, is giving me a fraudulent page warning when I try to reach my search engine of choice, Bing. Opera, interestingly enough, is Chromium-based. Hrmmm

Who decided that it was a good idea on most every website to put an auto playing video in the bottom corner unrelated to whatever content is on the page? I mean, I know the answer is advertisers, but... why? It must pay for itself somehow, though.

Took an online beginner's Chinese calligraphy class through my local public library this morning. It was a lot of fun to try something new! With some practice I might eventually get kinda good at this!

I don't know how I do it, but I manage to get websites I frequent to think I live in places I don't. The bird site has been feeding me advertisements for things in Pennsylvania, and Instagram apparently thinks I want to go out to bars and restaurants in Kentucky. If I knew what I was doing, I would write it all down and share my secrets with the world!

I wish ARMS became more popular, I love the game and I'm slightly good at it. Most other fighters I am terrible at. But it's cool how Nintendo is doing these monthly events now. youtube.com/watch?v=vIB-zwyMzV
