The number of people who believe - and unabashedly say, publicly, - “the murder of these people is okay because those other people were murdered first” is unbelievably astounding, and scary as hell.

PS - If you’re thinking of coming into my replies to justify the collective punishment and mass starvation of an entire population forcibly displaced and corralled into inhumane conditions by a state military offensive, one million humans of which are children, ONE MILLION CHILDREN, don’t.

@fsinn the funny thing about this is, before oct 7. It was considered the most deadly year for Palestinians in the West Bank . Not a word from the media, no call for Palestinians right to self defense. No unconditional weapons for the Palestinians, no 14 billion dollars in aid.

RAMALLAH, 18 Sept 2023 - At least 38 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank so far in 2023, making it the deadliest year since records began, said Save the Children.

@ogalachowski @fsinn … This horrific record was reached this month after the deaths of two 16-year-old boys on two separate occasions1.
On average, it equates to more than one Palestinian child killed per week. At least six Israeli children have also been killed this year.

@ogalachowski @fsinn … As the second consecutive year for record numbers of child fatalities in the West Bank, this highlights the worsening situation for children's safety across the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
A Palestinian child interviewed by Save the Children last year was one of the children killed this month. His words are a haunting reminder of the fears Dalestinian children

@ogalachowski @fsinn West Bank-only data is completely irrelevant. Even before the Hamas massacre, the death toll in Palestine was predominantly in Gaza, not the West Bank; there was a small Gaza war in 2021 but not in 2023 until October, so the overall death rate for Palestinians from Israeli violence was lower in 2023 than previously. The only reason people even bring West Bank-only data up is because Turkish state media and pro-Hamas protesters were trying to justify the massacre on 7.10.

@Alon @ogalachowski @fsinn it’s completely relevant, it’s showing the lack of consistency we hold people accountable when violence is committed against some civilians vs other innocent civilians. Further more the evidence I presented was from OCHA founded in New York. not turkey, Not Hamas supporters, not people that are trying to justify oct 7. Your an Israeli propaganda pusher, any criticism of Israel for is automatically considered antisemitism or Hamas supporters.

@ogalachowski @fsinn I'm not saying the numbers are wrong, just not terribly relevant to the war, not when the bulk of the lethal violence had been meted on Gazans for years. And they're absolutely being pushed by Hamas supporters - they were brandished on 7-8.10 as an excuse for why the massacre (let me guess, those too are Israeli propaganda?) was not unprovoked.

@Alon @ogalachowski @fsinn again it is relevant in showing the inconsistency in response to violence against innocent civilians. I’m sure Hamas and their supporters use Israeli violence against civilians as propaganda to support their cause. Just like you use Hamas violence against innocent civilians to support Israelis propaganda. Again you are a mouth piece for Netanyahu, any independent evidence shown of Israel’s atrocities is in your view automatically Hamas propaganda.

@ogalachowski @fsinn >Again you are a moth piece for Netanyahu

Okay, this is the point I'm disengaging and blocking.

@ogalachowski
The tragic thing is that @Alon said that Israel killed *a lot more than 38* Palestinian children before that date in 2023, and you ended up calling him names because he questioned one of many paths to support your conclusion (while even pointing at a different, though less simplistic one).

Indiscriminately "punishing" everyone in Gaza for the actions of a few terrorists is a crime.

Indiscriminately using misleading evidence only makes it harder to argue that case.

@fsinn @ogalachowski

@fsinn that "justification" only amplifies and perpetuates the explosive atmosphere of fear and hatred that is consolidating its grip on world affairs. It is the express lane to Gandhi's "an eye for an eye leaves us all blind"

@fsinn Yeah. Americans sometimes ask me do I hate the British for all they've done to Ireland; my answer is always "Bring me someone who actually took part in the Munster Plantation of the 1580s and caused the ethnic cleansing by famine there, driving off cattle, burning crops in haggard, harrowing the fields… I'll happily kill them!" The people who did harm in the past are not the people here now

@sinabhfuil @fsinn sadly in Australia we have a former Prime Minister who was both adamant that "that's history, get over it" and: sent the army in to enforce new rules he'd created that only applied to aboriginal communities (and had to suspend some human right legislation to do so); and was a huge fan of ANZAC Day and other celebrations of that history he wanted everyone to forget about.

Ladies and gentlemen, John Howard.

Unsurprisingly the Australian govt "unconditinally supports" Israel

@fsinn Good morning! What’s happening in Gaza is genocide.
