Context: Indian Government has recently launched a scheme called DigiYatra (Digital Journey) for air travel.
The system provides touch free check-in to airport and priority cues.
All this is powered by facial recognition and the privacy policy is a horror show.
Recently they started signing up users without informing them even if they choose to not be in the DigiYatra cue.
This is not just one case. Indian Government has been doing this for many things, they signed up for a national health identity while booking your vaccine appointments.
They linked Aadhar identity cards mandatory for availing most government schemes all the while claiming that it was voluntary. What they did was made the non-Aadhar process extremely slow.

@moonthesun yeah. It’s something I pay attention to as part of my work in UX/design. Design is a responsibility.
@markwyner OMG I thought the Indian government was banning web designers from making dark website layouts like "dark mode".
Actually this "dark design" thing should be a national/international law. It's about protecting consumers from predatory practices!
It doesnt make sense that individual people are penalized for manipulating other people, yet companies can guiltn shame, manipulate and confuse you to get your money. Absolutely gross.
