Drama Recs Challenge Day 7

This was an easy one. Not only does this great feature a strong ensemble cast, the entire plot and point of the show is their characters ARE an ensemble, a string Quartet. Day 4: A Powerful Performance

Shōgun (2024), actress Anna Sawai, for her powerful portrayal of Lady Toda Mariko. Strong, graceful, defiant, loyal, brave. Anna Sawai won the Best Actress Emmy 2024 and Golden Globe 2025, and so well deserved. The scenes at Osaka Castle are so powerful and memorable, Mariko facing questioning by the council, and when she and her group defiantly try to leave. Shōgun also won the Best Drama Emmy 2024 & Golden Globe 2025.

That's my name for the trope, I don't know what others call it, but it has creeped me out right from the start of my watching 12 years ago. Happily, it's MUCH less common in , and

I dumped Cha-Cha-Cha because of the omniscient, omnipotent ML. Sadly THAT trope is also very common in , especially.

@joakimfors East Asian comedy generally doesn't sync well with me. The attached image shows all the Dramas that I've tagged as having comedy either primary or secondary genre. Not many out of almost 530, and has a clear edge over
