Hi, everyone! :blobcat_box:

I'm Willa. I work as a med historian and pharmacy assistant at a hospital, but I almost never post about that. I do post a lot of nature pictures, often fungi or insects. I have a degree in #mathematics which I currently only use recreationally. I'm #transgender, #neurodivergent, #GenX, and #SociallyAwkward. Interests include #Minecraft, #nature, #RProgramming, #tidyverse, #hiking, #IndianFood, #VegetarianCooking, #science, #SciFi, and #cats. I make quirky #music that you can listen to on Bandcamp (#electronica, #indietronica, #hyperpop, #ElectronicClassical).

rotini pesto pasta!

- homemade golden pesto from fresh basil, yellow tomatoes, and garlic from the garden, with parmesan, cashew, olive oil, and spices from the store

- added hot green peppers (unknown variety), more cherry tomatoes, and basil from the garden on top, plus some onion and olive oil

@Ruth_Mottram Our standby is a #VegetarianCooking version of the 'miser's feast' found in a Welsh cookbook (but we are English).
Cook onions and old potatoes in water til the potatoes begin to break up (we use a pressure cooker). Put in fireproof dish, add grated cheese (can add breadcrumbs) and grill til cheese is crisping. Surprisingly tasty and satisfying.
Can vary with some herbs, stout, lentils etc. in the water, and in many other ways.
I suppose it's semi-traditional.

Regarding yesterday's question on your country's most typical foods, I'm a little overwhelmed by all the replies! Thanks to everyone! I tried to collate your suggestions on this page

sternaparadisaea.net/europe-on

Europe has 49 countries + I'm still missing suggestions for 23 of them, would love to hear your favourite foods from Estonians, Bulgarians, Montenegrans, Azeris, Armenians, Moldovans etc, etc.

Sterna Paradisaea · Europe on a PlateWe are staycationing this summer, part of our efforts to live a more relaxed and sustainable lifestyle, and we live in Copenhagen! Fanously a livable city at it’s best in July when for some r…

A plan for the family #staycation is to sample food from every country in Europe from our own home

One a day.

Some of them are dead easy (pizza/pasta anyone?), some of the countries are much harder.

Would love to know your favourite dish from your home country in Europe (or anywhere else, why not?)
What would you serve to someone who has never been to your country before? Bonus points if it's #vegetarianCooking and/or has a good story attached!

After 24 years of vegetarianism, I have finally found a #MeatPie #recipe that I can easily make #vegetarian and that tastes exactly like the meat pies I used to get as a kid back in #Australia at local corner shops.

My meat eating Danish family have also finally gotten to taste a true blue, #aussie classic.

For those interested, it's the pie recipe in this video by #NatsWhatIReckon and to make it veg, I just substituted plant-based mince, veggie stock and veg worcestershire sauce:

The bad thing about lemon bars is that they need to cool long before cutting into them. So I made these today for tomorrow's birthday dessert.

The family requested no dessert for the Saturday dinner, so they'll be missing these 😈

Recipe (gift link: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/10) only modifications: added the zest of one lemon and only used 175 gr of sugar in the custard
