Erik JonkerBesides all other elements I think it's simple, if the US doesn't offer security guarantees for Ukraine there will be no cease-fire deal or that deal will be meaningless. Ukraine can't trust on Russia's assurances alone. Also in the leaked proposal Ukraine doesn't get anything, just the cease-fire along current front lines, Russia keeps all it's conquered territories.
