Pump fixed. Reseating the leather cup was not enough, it also had leaky valves. The lower one fit into the drill chuck, so it was easy to lap.

For the upper one I had to get creative! See alt text for explanation.

Still didn't pump though. Troubleshooting eventually revealed the problem, the piston valve kept leaking due to wear around the center hole. Fixed by adding a washer and o-ring.

It pumps! This metering pump can supposedly be calibrated to 1l/turn.

The same pump I stripped, cleaned and derusted two weeks ago. It's parts are spread out on an improvised outdoor workshop table. The leather cup is reseated around the piston head now. Some tools and a set of taps/dies for cutting threads are spread around.
A messy workspace. The two parts of the flapper valve rest on top of each other, not quite centered. The rest of the piston head with the leather cup is put aside. A power drill has a cork attached to its chuck, which gripped the flapper valve with the aid of a small black rag as friction enhancer. This then spins the flapper inside the matching plate and laps it to match so it can seal better. A large adjustable pipe wrench is underneath the rag.
The reassembled pump, now free of rust. The aluminium parts are bare silvery colour, the steel parts are either silvery too or blackened from rust converter. The cylinder is black and also greasy from applying lots of oil to get the leather cup inside without unseating it again. The previously missing crank handle is a bare bolt now, secured with a locknut.
Close-up of the crank handle. Around the previously bare bolt is now a freshly made wooden handle that can spin freely around the bolt when cranking. It's coated in a patented finish of glove dirt, oil, grease and diesel, which should preserve it pretty well.

I mean, I'd not have any issues with a "shitty" #Netbook if it's prized acceptable.

  • And not €220+ for a Laptop with an #Atom #Z8350 & 2GB RAM and a 32GB eMMC that was €199 at lauch 10 years ago and €149 5 years ago.

Cuz then I might be better off buying a used #ThinkPad with #USBc, remove the dead battery and stap a Powerbank to it.

Tho I'd rather start the #NUCbook project instead or buy a @frameworkcomputer / #Framework12 instead...

I just created my own "PartEdMagic" USB. The original won't boot on Secure Boot machines and the new Dell laptops no longer have a legacy boot.

1 Xubuntu ISO, 1 USB drive, and a custom script to run "shred" on a designated drive and create a log of what it does.

Done.

New day - new Raspberry Pi brought back to life 😃

This one probably fell down because it had no shorts, all voltages from DA9090 were present, but it didn’t start most of the time - it did once but then I spent quite some time trying to figure out where is our issue.

Reflowing CPU and RAM chips must have helped ✅
