Trenitalia c2c is offering free train travel for #LondonMarathon runners on Sunday 27 April 2025. Runners can claim a free return trip by showing their official race number or finisher's medal at departure and arrival stations. c2c’s Managing Director, Rob Mullen, expressed his support for the event and the charitable causes runners are supporting. For those travelling to #London to support runners, c2c offers 40% off Off-Peak Return tickets when purchased online at least three days in advance. Additionally, c2c is hosting its own Ultra Marathon in partnership with Gold Geese on 13 September 2025, raising funds for local children's cancer charity Gold Geese. Mullen encouraged others to take part in the challenge, supporting the charity’s Go Gold campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

Govia Thameslink #Railway (GTR), in partnership with the #Bee Friendly Trust, has created 100 'Homes for Nature' at stations across its network to enhance #biodiversity and protect endangered species. These habitats, which include bird boxes, bee hotels, and hibernacula, are now in place at 26 stations, including locations in East #Sussex, #Surrey, Greater #London, and #Bedfordshire. GTR plans to increase the number to 200 by the end of the year, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. This initiative supports biodiversity recovery in response to the UK’s nature crisis, with nearly one in six species now at risk of extinction. The project also includes pollinator-friendly #plants, such as lavender and echinacea, added at 19 other stations. GTR’s environmental specialist, Eloise Rowan, highlighted the importance of these efforts in creating a railway for nature and helping improve local habitats for #wildlife and passengers.
