I guess it is Earth Day today? I thought that was back on 4/20 to be honest, I got confused I suppose. It was sometime around now. Remember back almost a decade ago when Alt NPS started up? I drew this to celebrate them. The map geeks among us can probably figure out where the topo is from, which National Park.

A rounded corner square design bordered in deep forest green and lighter green as the base color inside. Overlayed are squiggly lines of the deep green and some in gray, they represent contours of topography. There is blue running through as well, representing water. Along the water is small text in same blue "Established 2017" On top of this layered background are the letters ALT NPS. The A is brown, with two grizzlies locked standing on their hind legs to make the A shape The L is brown, in the shape of a wolf howolling at the moon, it's body makes the upright part of the L and the tail makes the horizontal part. The T is brown, in the shape of a moose head. Antlers form the cross piece of the T and head itself forms the vertical section. The N is represented by gray snow capped mountains, with help from a deep green forest scape in front to make the N more obvious as it holds the negative space underneath the first peak. The P is a continuation of the forest from N, with a rising Redwood proud and tall, a yellow sun peaking out for the curved upper part of the P. The S is a an extension of a river from the background, pulled into the foreground and completing the scene with the N and P...mountains, forest, sea.

Bei schönstem Wetter mit zwei Kindern im Park. Und als so langsam die Lust am Spazieren verschwand, konnte ich ein kleines Kunstprojekt zücken.
Regeln: Wir nehmen nur Dinge, die ohnehin von der Pflanze abgefallen sind, es wird nichts gepflückt oder abgerissen. Ausnahmen sind Gras und bestimmte Wiesenblumen.

Das war echt der Knaller.

Zwei Stücke Pappe, beide sind gleich gestaltet: Oben vier Löcher in einer Linie, darunter vier breite Klebestreifen von doppelseitigem Klebeband. Der dritte Klebestreifen ist gelb umrandet, der vierte grün. Two pieces of cardboard, both with the same design: Four holes in a line at the top, four wide strips of double-sided adhesive tape underneath. The third strip is outlined in yellow, the fourth in green.
Ein Kind mit Strohhut hockt auf dem Boden und befestigt ein Stück Pflanze auf einem Klebestreifen. Sein Stück Pappe enthält schon viele Pflanzenstücke. A child in a straw hat squats on the floor and attaches a piece of a plant to an adhesive strip. His piece of cardboard already contains many parts of different plants.
Die zwei Pappstücke, diesmal mit vielen Pflanzenteilen daran. Man sieht Blüten, Stengel, Gras, Blätter und vieles mehr. The two pieces of cardboard, this time with lots of plant parts on them. You can see flowers, stems, grass, leaves and much more.

16/52 Window to Rest
With the challenge in mind, I thought while shopping in town, maybe there would be some nice windowsills, with some beautifully arranged flowers (that would have been a classic). And then I saw this one, which fully lived up to the literal meaning of a "Fensterbank" (literally it translates to "window bench"). Just take a seat.

The picture shows a windowsill of a store that is completely covered by a simple wooden bench. It was attached directly to the windowsill. The bench consists of nine or ten rectangular wooden bars, which are mounted in such a way that they form a right angle on which you can sit. There are paper cards in the window, and the word “new” is written in yellow curved letters on the window. The window reflects the buildings on the opposite side of the street and a thin vertical line of blue sky. With a little encouragement, I got out to a short backpacking trip on an old trail. The first day was damp set up, but with plenty of trillium! Er, make that pseudotrillium!

The big creek crossing along the way. A trail of dark earth through mossy green and fern covered land is cut by a wide creek with rushing white water tumbling over boulders. An apparently small hiker balances on a pair of thin logs with the aid of a long walking stick in the water, crossing the main flow. Thickly green trees stand around.
Del Norte Salamander A small, wet salamander curls and scrambles on fingers much larger than it. It is dark brown with striping of lighter brown from head to tail.
Soggy brook wakerobing, the only Pseudotrillium species. A dark purple stem pokes up from three big green leaves with a bricklike pattern. A flower weighted down by large water drops curves to the side. It's three petals are white and partly protected by light green sepals.
Buck Creek entering South Fork Smith River A large flowing creek with water turning from white to calmer looking enters into a second large flowing water body. Bare rocks with plants a few feet above the water surround. From this angle, either could be the largest. It's actually the further that's largest.
