The bourgeois parties are dropping their masks and colluding with fascists in the struggle for administrative power to implement their projects of redistribution and destruction. Practical antifascism is being massively criminalized. Fascists are gaining power all over Europe. In the USA and Russia, fascists control governments and the military, police, and intelligence services. The madness of a global social dystopia is further enriched by the Chinese model of an authoritarian, racist surveillance state and various caliphates of authoritarian or jihadist holy warriors of all denominations. They all incite and instrumentalize hatred of other people using constructs such as religion, nation, culture, lifestyles, or habitat. The terror of right-wing extremists and fascists goes hand in hand with a rollback of patriarchal discourses and massive violence against women and queer people all over the world. Women, queer people, and children in particular are humiliated, hunted, raped, and killed every day, and resistance to this is vilified as "woke left cancel culture."

This list could go on endlessly, and each of these aspects would be enough to trigger militant self-defense and sabotage. There's no reason to wait until things get worse. It doesn't look as if large, emancipatory mass movements that could overturn the existing power structures will develop in Germany, Europe, or anywhere else in the world in the foreseeable future. In this situation, and until everything has fundamentally changed, militancy is not just one of many options for action for us, but also a matter of self-respect.

Militant action is more than just an outlet for our hatred of a social system of subjugation, contempt, and the all-encompassing destruction of the very foundations of life. It is said that militant actions, in addition to their symbolic value and pure material damage, also have immediate practical consequences. In one of the numerous attacks in Munich, a 5G transmission tower was set on fire. Reception in this area is still disrupted today. Another attack hit a gravel pit and led the company to withdraw from a planned new gravel mine. The attack on the power pole next to the Tesla factory in Brandenburg resulted in weeks of production downtime and gave enormous momentum to the mobilization against Tesla. The forest occupations, power plant blockades, and the battle for Lützerath have cost the police and corporations energy and money. They mobilize people, and all approaches to self-organization are always necessary steps and experiences on the path to a world without domination, exploitation, and oppression.

In any case, there are more than enough good reasons, both in terms of content and practical starting points, for militant practice, so just choose what interests you most or what you enjoy. Get organized, stay unpredictable—and who knows, maybe others will be inspired by you...

Love and strength to all militants inside and out!
Autonomous group “Lute for Raute”

translated from german

https://emrawi.org/?Zu-den-Durchsuchungen-Vorladungen-und-Verhaftungen-in-Munchen-und-Salzburg-im-3652

We do not know whether the article was merely the product of the authors' vivid imagination or was supported by background discussions with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and/or intelligence agencies. However, it is striking that Welt am Sonntag has recently engaged in "investigative" activity in other contexts as well. Last year, it addressed the alleged structural background of the "Switch-off Campaign," as well as an "analysis" of the actions and alleged nationwide structures of the so-called Vulkan groups following the Tesla attack in 2024. We consider it unlikely that these articles were written and published without specific information from the investigative authorities (https://kontrapolis.info/13213/). During the same period, a "danger analysis" also appeared in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which primarily described an allegedly increasing propensity for violence among left-wing radicals, rehashed the narrative of a climate-driven RAF, and conflated it with the proceedings against militant anti-fascists (https://kontrapolis.info/12562/). This takes the arc even further, and it can be assumed that the FAZ, as well as the WamS, published the articles in the political interest and with the explicit approval of the German repressive structures. Both newspapers have served as mouthpieces for the Federal Prosecutor's Office and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution for decades.

Conclusion:

The police attack is a reaction both to the considerable number of unsolved arson attacks in Munich in recent years, as well as to journalistic projects such as the Zündlumpen (fire lump) and the wind farm brochure. Furthermore, we also see the investigation as an attack against anarchist, resistant, antagonistic, and militant structures in general. We will have to wait and see what the criminal constructs against the accused are. It remains to be seen how the police will proceed: how the upcoming witness summonses and detention review hearings will proceed, whether there will be follow-up searches or an expansion of the circle of those affected, whether there will ultimately be charges and trials, and which of the numerous allegations will even be heard there. None of this is in our control. What is important to us at the moment is that the police's attempt to threaten and intimidate individuals is collectively rejected. It would be nice if we could also respond to the attack politically and practically in such a way that the cops look even more stupid than they did after the attack on their shitty cars.

How can we respond to the attack?

At the moment, the priority is to find out how those affected can be supported directly. The prisoners will certainly appreciate mail, solidarity actions, and fireworks, and the other accused and witnesses could certainly use some support as well. The upcoming proceedings will cost a lot of money and take up time. You can find practical information on how you can support them below. Beyond that, two other points are important to us: first, we should all consider how we can organize and protect ourselves against (possible further) repression by the public prosecutor and the police. Second, and given that the attack is directed not only against the accused but also fundamentally against antagonistic practices and organizations, we want to share with you our thoughts on militant practices under the current political circumstances. Perhaps you disagree, or perhaps you also see similarities.

>On dealing with further repression:

We assume that the repressive authorities are hoping for clues about the unsolved arson attacks, but at the moment they primarily want to understand the connections and workings of activist and militant groups. This means that the searches conducted so far may not be enough. We have to expect that there may be further observations, surveillance attacks, searches, and arrests, also in other cities and regions. So, everyone, please clean up your rooms, attics, basements, and sheds, use Tails and TOR when surfing the internet or communicating, leave your phones at home from time to time, and talk to your friends about how you can generally protect yourself against surveillance. And above all: don't speculate about what certain people might or might not have done. The cops will use everything they learn to get a better picture and threaten you or others or drag you to court.

The police certainly hope to intimidate not only those affected but also all of us through the searches and investigations. In recent years, the police and public prosecutors have made very liberal use of the accusation of criminal association (§129). In Munich, this isn't just directed against newspapers like Zündlumpen. The Munich Attorney General's Office, for example, is currently conducting §129 proceedings against the "Last Generation," whose actions aren't fighting for the abolition of capitalism, but for the introduction of speed limits on the Autobahn. Therefore: discuss with your friends how to deal with fears and uncertainty. During searches, witness summonses, or arrests, never agree to any statements, and don't sign anything. Think about how you can support each other if the police single out individuals among you.

>On our relationship to militant practice and sabotage:

We understand the arson attacks, whether with or without explanations, as examples of militant self-defense against a destructive capitalist system of violence. Apparently, the police and the public prosecutor's office see it similarly, even if they call it something else. However, by militant practice, we mean more than arson attacks against infrastructure or attacks on Nazis and their structures. For us, militant practice means anything that, regardless of the restrictions of the criminal code, challenges social conditions and seeks to change them in an emancipatory sense. This includes unannounced demonstrations, flash mobs, newspapers, leaflets, posters, or spray-painted slogans, as well as riots, blockades, or occupations. It can be actions such as adbusting or targeted property damage. Militant practice can be more symbolic or materially devastating. It can express a political stance through accompanying publications or dispense with explanations. Practical solidarity with those affected by state repression is also a necessary part of militant practice. For us, the "legitimacy" of a militant practice derives from how we assess the social situation as a whole. Much could be said about this, but we'll limit ourselves here to a few key points that do not claim to be a comprehensive political analysis:

>War mobilization, militarization and new imperialism

The first thing the CDU and SPD, as the likely new federal government, have just agreed on with the support of the Greens, is a gigantic rearmament package. The rearmament of the Bundeswehr will be accompanied by debates on the reintroduction of military service and considerations for the development of new, European nuclear weapons. The imperialist expansion and control of "one's own" territory and sphere of influence through military force and war is not the exclusive privilege of Russian imperialism. It is also taking place these days through the Turkish, Iranian, and Israeli governments, in Rojava and Syria, in Yemen and Iraq, or on the Golan Heights, in the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. The US government is threatening to annex Greenland and the Panama Canal; the Chinese government is threatening to annex Taiwan. Traditional political and military alliances are in upheaval. The hope that this massive, all-round rearmament will prevent wars is naive and absurd. Greater political resistance to the war policy is nowhere to be seen, but all the more necessary for it. War requires infrastructure, armaments, and weapons supplies. Targeting and destroying all of this is always the right thing to do.

Climate and nature destruction

We can start again with the future CDU/SPD government. Gigantic investments in "infrastructure" are intended to enable war capability and economic growth; a consistent fight against global climate and environmental destruction would require a break with the growth and profit principles of capitalist production. This, of course, is too much to ask even of the Greens. On this issue, too, there is currently no evidence that a "civil society" climate movement would force "system change." Sabotage of the supply chains of overproduction and thwarting the destruction of nature can, however, at least somewhat slow the pace of widespread global devastation.

>Flight, migration

Should we seriously justify why the sabotage of the murderous and increasingly tightening German and European border regime is necessary and justified? Perhaps it will only be for a short time that European governments will continue to talk about protecting human rights while committing murder at their borders. In any case, it is already foreseeable that in the near future, not only arson attacks on police cars but also civilian sea rescue operations or resistance to the payment card system will be considered attacks on the state and prosecuted accordingly.

>Authoritarian, patriarchal, racist, fascist and jihadist mobilizations

👇

Follow-up searches were carried out in the days that followed. According to what we know so far, the searches targeted a total of four suspects and witnesses in three different investigations for approving/rewarding criminal acts, forming a criminal organization, and on initial suspicion of involvement in arson attacks. (https://de.indymedia.org/node/497199). Various computers, printers, storage media, telephones, and magazines were confiscated during the searches. Two of the four suspects were taken into custody due to missing registered addresses. According to the press, the charges for the other two suspects were not sufficient to warrant arrest warrants. In addition, witnesses were summoned for questioning by the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office. We are not yet able to assess which of the investigations are actually relevant for the summonses, which investigations the police are making cross-references to, and whether there are any relevant findings at all so far.

What do the investigations relate to?

The procedures are somewhat complicated. We'll try to provide a brief description here, even though we can only do so based on the Indymedia posts and newspaper articles. For a better understanding, it might be helpful to first summarize the background to the search:

For several years now, vehicles, machinery, trains, construction materials, buildings, cable ducts, and radio masts have been burning with great regularity in Munich and the surrounding area. All of this has now amounted to a considerable double-digit million-dollar sum in property damage. In a large portion of these incidents, there were no letters of confession, but in others, there were. According to the local press, the police have not been able to secure any usable leads to identify perpetrators in any single incident. The only thing they have so far speculated is that the fires could not have been accidental spontaneous combustion and somehow always have something to do with "critical infrastructure" in the broadest sense. In January 2025, 23 vans belonging to the Munich police dog unit burned down in an unguarded parking lot. In this case alone, the property damage amounted to over two million euros. That's the situation. For several years, the police's "Investigation Team Raute" has been trying unsuccessfully to solve the case.

As we understand it, in addition to the "initial suspicion of involvement in six arson attacks," there is also an investigation into "approval/reward of criminal acts." This refers to a brochure entitled "Hating Sheet Against the Wind Farm," which was allegedly circulated at the end of 2024 with reference to the planned construction of dozens of wind turbines for the chemical company "Wacker." The police attribute it to four suspects. In addition to their involvement in the wind farm brochure, two of the suspects are accused of being part of a criminal organization. The Munich local press reported that this refers to another, somewhat outdated investigation from 2022 against the newspaper "Zündlumpen." The Zündlumpen was published very regularly in Munich between 2019 and 2021 and commented on current events in the city and the country from an anarchist perspective. The proceedings against Zündlumpen are quite curious and deserve a detailed examination of their own, but go beyond the scope of this article (https://de.indymedia.org/node/499854). In addition to criminalizing the newspaper itself, the proceedings against Zündlumpen, in our view, primarily served to attack anarchist structures in Munich and, in addition to extensive confiscations, also led to the closure of the anarchist library "Frevel." The fact that these proceedings have now been brought back to light may have been intended to place the production of the wind farm brochure in a larger and therefore more threatening context, and to embellish the request for pre-trial detention. The cops have no evidence of any concrete involvement in any arson attack for any of the accused.

An article in Welt am Sonntag from mid-March 2025 mentions a remarkable 50 arson attacks in this context. Furthermore, the article attempts to establish a connection between the investigations in Munich and other nationwide investigations (https://kontrapolis.info/15239/). Specifically, the attacks by the so-called Vulkangruppen are mentioned, which also include the burning of the power pole at the Tesla factory in Brandenburg in 2024. A possible connection with the "Switch-off Campaign" is also suggested (https://switchoff.noblogs.org/). The Welt am Sonntag article suggests that there may be substantive and structural connections between militant actions in Munich and Berlin, and that investigations are apparently underway. While it is not stated who is conducting all these investigations, it is likely that the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is in charge.

How do we assess the attack?

1. Interpretation: The cops had to react to the increased pressure from press coverage and wanted revenge for the burned-down police cars.

The timing of the searches is crucial for this interpretation. In recent months, pressure from the local media on the investigating authorities in connection with the arson attacks in Munich has increased significantly. If the information in the various local newspaper articles is correct, the police have apparently so far found virtually no usable leads and no clear investigative approach. This is also reflected in the wild speculation in the press about who is actually destroying forestry machinery, radio towers, and long-distance data cables and for what reasons. In all the articles, the police are literally made to look stupid: They cannot prevent the attacks, they cannot say who is doing all these things and why, whether it is always the same people, or whether the actions have anything to do with one another at all.

It's not difficult to imagine the mood of the briefings at Munich Police Headquarters or the Interior Ministry following the attack on the 23 unsecured police cars immediately before the NATO Security Conference. Whether revenge or "PR work," the temporal connection between the searches and the torched police cars is more than obvious. The cops wanted to send the message: We have everything under control, we've investigated, we have suspects, we've conducted searches and arrests, blah blah blah. And the press takes over all this nonsense and prints it. As a result, reality now appears to be turned on its head. The headlines make it seem as if the attack on the police cars had been solved just three weeks later, as if extensive evidence had been secured during the searches, and the alleged perpetrators, who are also said to be responsible for numerous other attacks in the "mysterious series of arson attacks," have been arrested.

2. Interpretation: The police primarily want to gather information about structures and evidence of concrete participation in individual actions, create uncertainty and intimidate.

That's always true, of course. What's more interesting here is the manner in which the searches were conducted. Regarding intimidation, it's worth mentioning that at least one of the searches was conducted with a massive force of approximately 70 masked cops armed with machine guns. Several properties were broken into and searched without the victims present. Tracking dogs, metal detectors, and floodlights were used. In total, the press reports that at least 140 cops were involved in all searches.

The criteria for naming witnesses and the way the police deal with them also suggest to us that the current priority may be to identify structures. No distinction was made between suspects and witnesses during the searches and seizures. Summonses for questioning were issued directly by the public prosecutor's office, meaning that failure to appear could result in mandatory appearances, and refusal to testify could result in fines or coercive detention. It cannot be ruled out that witnesses will later be turned into suspects in the course of further investigations.

However, we assume that the police will now take a very close look at who is meeting with whom, how those affected are dealing with the situation, and who else is showing solidarity and reacting to the attack. In the run-up to the searches and also as part of the ongoing investigations into the arson attacks, there were repeated, extensive surveillance and wiretapping operations. We assume that these measures will not be discontinued now, but rather expanded. We should therefore also expect that those not yet affected may be included in the proceedings.

3. Interpretation: The searches and investigations could be part of a broader attack on militant activities and structures far beyond Munich

👇

MikeDunnAuthor
Today in Labor History April 18, 1977: Native American activist Leonard Peltier was found guilty of murdering two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation. However, he was actually framed by undercover FBI agents who were conducting counterintelligence on the reservation. During the trial, some of the government’s own witnesses testified that Peltier wasn’t even present at the scene of the killings. In 2017, President Obama denied Peltier's application for clemency. He was still in prison in 2025 and his health has deteriored. On June 7, 2022, The UN Human Rights Council's Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Peltier’s imprisonment violates the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. President Biden, as one of his final acts as president, commuted his sentence to indefinite house arrest. In February 2025, he was released and transferred to the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in Belcourt, North Dakota.

#workingclass #LaborHistory #leonardpeltier #fbi #obama #AmericanIndianMovement #indigenous #prison #racism #nativeamerican #politicalprisoner #pineridge #biden
