Sundays are decline-push-up day. I'm on track for over 11,000 push-ups this year. Today I surpassed my raw numbers for all of 2020, my first year at it. Those were all classic push-ups, and in bad form. This year's are all declines, pikes, and handstand push-ups. I've done 2425 year-to-date. #pushups #calisthenics #seniorfitness

Sundays are decline-push-up day for me in recent months, and today was another personal best: 90 of these. I'm 69.
I post this stuff not infrequently because, well, it saved my life. That's only a smidge of hyperbole.
So great to be at the Malden Senior Center to teach my SPARTA Strength Class for ages 65-95, all abilities, since returning from Ukraine

I'm still not quite believing it myself, but I just pushed out a new personal best with 5 handstand push-ups. I started this journey five years ago, losing 50 pounds and putting advanced heart disease in remission. I'm 69 in 2025.

Where I feel these most is in my brachioradiales (anterior radial forearm, plural)—not, surprisingly, my quads. Halfway through, they're screaming and I want to stop. But then, miraculously, the urgent ache goes away! I'm not sure what the mechanism is there. But that muscle will help you immensely with pull-ups, dead hangs, general grip strength, etc. Video is 3x speed, and this is the last bit.
