Journalists really need to stop referring to #ElonMusk's "Department of Government Efficiency" as if it were real. It's not, until and unless Congress creates and funds it. A president can listen to advice from anyone, but that's not the same as building an actual federal agency. Don't perpetuate a fraud. #journalism
@BruceMirken It is driving me crazy. The mainstream press constantly uses words to downplay any headline, but don’t say fabricated DOGE or something like that.

In Australia, main stream media tells us the govt has "passed legislation to ban children from social media"
In reality, from 2026, the responsible federal minister can start issuing instructions to specific services (s)he has to name, where (s)he can specifically state the problem that banning kids will solve, to start checking their users in some undefined fashion to confirm they are over 16.
But, no, "kids have been banned from social media"
