What if the universe is set up just like the Fediverse, but we don’t know about the existence of any other life because our Earth instance was preemptively blocked for hateful conduct.

@Michele Naw....the earth is just too much of a schlepp, being located in the unfashionable backwaters of the western end of our spiral galaxy 😆

@hfinyow @Michele I wouldn't underestimate us- we're only mostly harmless. 😜

@Michele it's more of a latency problem... we're still connected but we only get updates every 100,000 years

@Michele At least we escaped Musk's Mars Freedom Colony 😳

@Michele Hmm, I figure that was the Vulcan's solution for dealing with earth.

@Michele You know that's roughly how the 11th dimension works, right?

@Michele It is probably something like that but instead of being blocked for hateful conduct we're just to far away to get the information to other planets with life on, even at the speed of light.

The universe is very big.

@Michele @jasper I hope the universe is not built with ruby on rails

@Michele
So, ferdiverse = universe? I wouldn't blame any others instance aka the rest of the universe für blocking us.

But maybe it's kinda roman game for them.

I bet the human beings will bust their planet till...
Naw, I bet the earth will bust itself to protect the universe till
Can s.o. please bring the lions in? It's kinda boring watching this species do the same stupid things für centuries again and again
Now, let them be. We need bad practice examples...

@Michele we're the GAB of the universe. Makes sense.

@Michele

You are not alone. We are not alone. We're only disconnected.

@RolfBly @Michele Ha, I came here to reply with the exact same quote.

@Michele this sortof happens in Robert Sheckley's Dimension of Miracles. Earth is banned from the rest of the universe because: "In short, Earth is a diseased place. I believe it is being phased out of the Galactic Master Plan on the basis of chronic cosmic incompatibility. The place will then be rehabilitated and turned into a refuge for daffodils." 😂 😂

@Michele if the other universe instances were smart they would have cut us off many centuries ago.

@Michele …or, the instance admin has self-defederated to save us from evil shitposters outside?

@tivasyk Which begs the question… who is the Earth’s instance admin? 🤔

@Michele I mean they sent to the space bunch of naked people on the golden plate, so I can't judge anyone who unfederated earth

@brennschluss Forgot about that. Maybe we actually got blocked for no content warning lol.

@Michele Have you read C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy? That’s basically his theory, that the other planets had to cut off connections with Earth due to… well, you can guess.

@SakuRainbow I don’t think I read anything of his except the Chronicles of Narnia, but that’s interesting - I’ll have to check them out!

@Michele The titles are Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. Honestly with that last one you’d think he was living in 2019 or so.

@Michele

Actually one of the better explanations for the Fermi Paradox.

@Michele I’m hoping we just haven’t figured out the protocol yet, but we will soon. 🖖🤞

@Michele I'm getting a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy vibe...
Demolition of Earth for the new highway was available at the local Gov office.
Not our fault you didn't evolve fast enough to visit there and see the notice. 😂

@PaulOutBox I love love love Hitchhiker’s Guide. Watching the destruction of Twitter from Mastodon is The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

@Michele I still have my account over there and I'm waiting for my content Down Load. After I get that I won't be going there for at least 14 days. See the smoldering wreckage... 😀

@Michele I think this is how the Federation works, in Star Trek. Hm, Federation, Fediverse

@Michele every sentient species in the galaxy has a racial memory of the horrors of the Krikket Wars. Only one had the appalling bad taste to turn it into a game. For being this offensive they were isolated and left to believe they were alone in the universe. (Douglas Adams. One of the later Hitch Hikers books, can’t remember which. Above is recollection, not quote.)

@joel_hanes omg I can’t stop laughing at “they talk by flapping their meat at each other.” 😂

@joel_hanes @Michele The MIT link is a must-read for the hilarity and even the potential “truth” hidden in it!

@Michele so now I really want a “quote post” option so I can say: read this post then read the replies!

@Michele As Hobbes said to Calvin, 'The surest sign that there is intelligent life out there is that it hasn't bothered trying to contact us'.
