#DYK that 200 years ago in 1800 and 1831, perhaps the most important geologist of all time, Alexander von #Humboldt described human-induced #climatechange scientifically, on the basis of observations generated during his travels?
He showed that local impacts of development were already damaging the environment.
iirc he's the archeologist that's famous for blowing up everything without regard for what he's looking for or the environment
I thought that was Alfred Nobel.

I recommend reading about Humboldt. He literally changed our understanding of weather.

I didn't know that — Humboldt was clearly a pioneer!
I believe that you, and others concerned/alarmed by climate change, will likely be interested in a petition for radical reform of the UN , which has been vocal but, unfortunately, ineffective when faced with climate change and other challenges of this century.
