Watching this, I can't help but think people would be really pissed if the US were doing the same program with English (and in this environment, I can't rule out that that may happen in future).
Of course people should try hard to learn the language of the country where they want to immigrate. But if they're having to work all the time or if they're pretty old and can't learn like an 18-year old anymore, etc or if gov't is cutting back free language classes...it's pretty hard.
@meganL I was about to remark that USA unlike France doesn’t have an official language, but apparently Trump put out an EO to state that it does and it’s English two weeks ago. Not that it means the USA has one since EOs aren’t necessarily law, but yeah…
@dx Yeah, I'm sure the monoglots behind that party are all too eager to move to a law. And unlike some other countries, it won't be accompanied by funding for official free language classes.
