@statsguy@mas.to@gme @RickiTarr I was eating humus and avocado sandwiches* back in the 1980s, so I'm not sure this is a gen Z thing.

@statsguy @gme @RickiTarr hummus, avocado, and shredded carrots on whole grain bread with alfalfa sprouts -- this is the truly delicious sandwich that my sister and I were convinced was going to save the world. We never did open that sandwich shop, though.

Some time in the early 1970s, my very sophisticated Bat Mitzvah class went for a day out in London, when we all tried not to laugh as an earnest WIZO lady held up an avocado and explained how to eat it.
Yeah, humus and avocados weren't on sale in every supermarket back then, as they are now. But they were not unfamiliar, even in obscure places like Oxford.
