★ blue-caller ☆Another obscure disc I have: the Amon Saga from 1986. The front features a beautiful, gothic lithograph from Yoshitaka Amano. You can also see Amano's influence in the character design in the animation. This basic, high fantasy story is a little more style than substance. But having the physical copy, you can see what a beautiful piece of art it is. ★ blue-caller ☆Showing off my modest anime LD collection: This one is for Metal Fighter Miku. It is sealed, and doesn't have the usual adhesive flap of Japanese media. So I will probably never watch it. What's nice is these were produced when Digital Audio was standard to pair with the Analog video. It also has CLV playback, giving you 60mins per side. One cool visual feature is the big image on the back. It's a frame from the ending theme, but Miku's figure has a cast shadow that looks almost like this was from one of the original animation cels. This series is a pretty basic. (<a href="https://hachyderm.io/@pair12" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@pair12</a> wish me luck, pal)It took me a while to find the time, though it's also been a constant distraction while trying to do more important things (lol), but I'm going to see if I can send commands to the player's SR input from my computer using the codes from IRDB. My understanding is that the majority of Pioneer players (basically the ones that begin with CLD, more or less) use the same codes, so I just have to figure out which of the 3 Pioneer LD codes on IRDB is the correct one (this information is available on at least one LDDB thread; open in one of many tabs I'm sure, but also I can just try them all and see which works lol), open it in IRScrutinizer, and find some way to send the code out through my 3.5mm jack, or possibly write some script to do so if I had to.It doesn't seem like it should be that simple, but the SR protocol is basically just the received IR code, but demodulated (and I think also inverted? I'll confirm the details before I start putting wires in places, but I may very well require a semiconductor of some description).I kind of assumed IRScrutinizer would just do this out of the box, but I also didn't confirm that assumption when I was thinking about all this while also doing real work so I could keep paying for food/shelter/goods/svcs/etc. lol, so while it seems completely obvious, I am very excited now that I've actually run it to see that that's its default mode of operation.<a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/laserdisc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#laserdisc</a>

I have a Pioneer CLD-110. It plays discs, and the output looks pretty good to me. Only problem is the remote doesn't work (don't have the original remote, but I programmed it into my Logitech Harmony).At first, I assumed (after some cursory research) that it would be the SR control input on the back, but now that I've decided to open it up and dig a little deeper, I came across a forum post claiming that if the front panel controls work, then it probably *isn't* the SR jack? That thread wasn't about a 110, but they made it sound like a rule. Feels odd to me, but hey, I've owned a Laserdisc player for a very short time, and only just tested it this past week.Any ideas? Should I try to bypass the SR jack anyway and see if I get lucky? If it is the control board, should I expect to be replacing it, or is it likely something repairable by a hack with a soldering iron?I know I'm just shouting Marco into the void, so thanks in advance if I hear a distant Polo in response 😅
