Constantine

Oh yes! That’ll be finished.

60ish hours. Probably slow for a first playthrough but I loved almost every minute. The Ritual Path and the swamp were testers more than any boss! What an incredible game and staggeringly beautiful remake.

Roll on dlc now.

Or maybe I should give a go?

I think some time needs to pass before that.
A palate cleanser will be needed…

@Constantine 👏 There's absolutely no chance I could do it.

@iSabreman no one is more surprised than me. Years of bouncing off these games and enjoying them from afar so I’m actually secretly thrilled I’m not as crap as I thought I was!

@Constantine It's good on many levels the game difficulty, the desire to play a game for that many hours and the most important thing to enjoy it & feel pleasure. I think as we get older it's gets harder to connect with games. Keep going I hope you have those other games ordered already!

@Constantine 2 game gap at least.

Well done man. It’s a great game.

60 hours is about right, took me the same on PS3.

@Sobtanian I had such an amazing time with it. Wonderful game that is easily one of my favourite gaming experiences.

I remember you saying when I finished ER that you never forget finishing your first Souls game and nothing really comes as close. This was close but no cigar!

In both cases though in the last five hours I KNEW It was time to finish and move on.

I have Returnal and the second Horizon game to crack on with and then there’s Zelda and probably Diablo!

@Constantine have I shown you the blog about demon’s souls I did years ago? I think I have. Captures what it meant to me, it was my first Souls game.

@Sobtanian you did years ago actually but link me up again as I’d like to reread it in the light of finishing it!

@Sobtanian Thanks mucker. Will read that now.

I just happen to already own DS3. I bought it in a sale ages ago. I had DS and DS2 on 360 I think. Bounced off both hard at the time.

Anyway aren’t you a DS2 Truther? The Souls version of a flat earther I was told! Heheheh.

@Constantine DS2 is the best one, me and Jas agree on that. But we’re a minority, and there’s no one that’ll tell you DS1 isn’t amazing, hence my recommendation. Get the remastered trilogy, it’ll run on your consoles.

@Sobtanian that blog is so good now that I truly know everything you reference. It reminds me exactly of what you say at the end; that childlike feeling from games long since gone!

@Sobtanian I’m also hoping to get some Redfall in with you and Jas when it’s out.

@Constantine cool. We’re planning on playing that, yes.

I wouldn’t do Returnal just yet, it’ll frustrate you. I mean after DS.

@danielholt Thanks chap! The home straight of the route I went was largely a sequence of boss battles so it crept up on me quickly in a way.

@Constantine I've just got the last boss to go, and I think I have the measure of him, so next session should do it. But I'm procrastinating because I don't want it to be over.

Took me 100 hours, so don't feel bad. 🤣 In my defence, I'm old and it was my first Souls.

Congrats!

@KennyPark hahahaha. Brilliant. Am also old and Elden Ring my first last year.

I’d bounced off these games for years due to a fatal lack of patience on my part!

So this feels like a real gaming achievement especially after that accursed swamp!

I seemed to rattle through the last few bosses today and the end was upon me almost too quickly somehow but I knew I wanted to see it out tonight.

@Constantine I know what you mean. For some reason, I already know that Friday's my day.

Flamelurker was the hardest boss for me, and then the Swamp nearly did me in. I'm playing Dark Souls on Switch at the same time, and I hit Blighttown at the same time, so I was doubly cursed.

Working towards ER via Bloodborne and Sekiro, once I've finished DS. (IF I finish DS!)

@KennyPark I admire the plan going forward!

I have 15 hours of Sekiro that are etched ruinously on my psyche.

I was forced to concede that I can see how marvellous it is and how honed but it just wasn’t for me. My eye is twitching now, just thinking of my terrible parry timing!
