I made friends with a Mournful Sphinx Moth, also called the Hawk Moth, today on my front porch. Look at those aerodynamic wings, the dead leaf camouflage! So cool!

Moths are symbolic of mystery and the veil between the worlds.

If this is a precursor to Cernunnos paying my front door a visit, though, I am going to be booking it out the back door like the big chicken I am!

It's a close up of a mouth that looks exactly like a curled up dead brown leaf. It's wings form a perfect triangle shape. It's body is shaped like a Boeing airbus. He has two forward legs, holding to the stucco wall of my house. He's beige with random brown spots and striations like a dead leaf!

@Thoreau a nature fact that doesn't cease to amaze me is that moths (and butterflies) retain memories while undergoing the metamorphosis between caterpillar and adult.

I wonder if they dream while they're in the cocoon?

@Thoreau I believe so too. I think we discussed an article a while ago about the discover that spiders have a REM-phase in their sleep - this is a strong indicator that they dream.
