Today I received the author copies of #DownToEarth, my debut novel, and the truth is that I am uncommonly chuffed with it.
It's a short novel of 100 pages, a dream of the recent future, a far-fetched fable (to borrow a phrase from Bernard Shaw). In intent it is by turns humorous, thought-provoking, imaginative and even possibly a little bit gripping. I would be delighted if you chose to buy a copy.
You can buy it here or from any number of other online merchants:

@andrewcrowther That sounds so wonderful! Do you know if the Royal Mail's international shipping is still not happening? I've tried to order things from the UK over the past month, things aren't making it over here.
@dianemagras Thank you! I'm sorry to say that the last time I heard, international mail is still not being sent. What a mess!
@dianemagras it looks as if there is a "limited" resumption of service in place.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64324000
@andrewcrowther Sigh. But likely not for a while. In any case, do let me know if you can when international mail starts again. Both Michael and I very much want to read your debut!
@dianemagras Hi Diane, I'm not sure if you saw this when I posted it on Mastodon, but the book can now be ordered in the US from Barnes and Noble. The book is print on demand, and you would get a copy printed in the US. (I checked with the publisher about this!) https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/down-to-earth-andrew-crowther/1142825785
@andrewcrowther Ooo, thank you so much!! I just ordered it. Can't wait to read it!
@dianemagras I do hope you enjoy it - thank you!
@andrewcrowther It came today Andrew. Fabulous service! And I’ve read and enjoyed it. Very you!
I’m fascinated by the book choices - would love to know what the 25 approved books are.
And intrigued by your choice of subversive literature!
@juneussell I'm delighted that you enjoyed it! If you find out what the 25 books are please let me know... As for the "subversive literature", of course the ones we hear about are Thark's choices, so they're all from a certain perspective (e.g. no James Baldwin, Maya Angelou, Salman Rushdie, etc). My book seems to have ended up being more about books than I intended, but after all, they do say "Write what you know"....
@juneussell Thank you!
