This album from @c_reider uses scales from Terry Riley and Wendy Carlos (among others), and even though I have no idea what that means because I have zero technical knowledge about music, I do know it makes my brain happy. And, it sounds excellent on cassette!

@buffyleigh Ohhhhhh that is nice *bookmarking*
@buffyleigh @c_reider This looks really cool, so I will need to check it out! Also, by scales in this case, I am gonna just link the wikipedia article from Wendy Carlos' β Scale for you to just be lost while looking at :p https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_scale
@avi_miller @buffyleigh or more generally, here’s an article on microtonality: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microtonality
@c_reider @avi_miller Oof alright, time to study up!
@avi_miller @buffyleigh tldr it’s just notes that are in between the notes used in most music you hear
@avi_miller Omg, do you actually understand what those words are saying? My brain hurts.
@buffyleigh @avi_miller Tbh I admire people with deep music theory knowledge
@daria @avi_miller Totally, I wish this made sense to me.
@buffyleigh @daria so my theory knowledge is not the most deep, but back when I was in uni I did take some Music Theory, and so yes I do understand this sorta thing.
@avi_miller @buffyleigh I have only minimum understanding of music theory, just a little, tiny bit, from fragmented pieces of knowledge here and there.
@daria @avi_miller I need to find a music theory for dummies book or something.
@buffyleigh @avi_miller When I grow up I want to be a musicologist. (“Always” wanted to be.)
