There are dating sites that post fake profiles of women and have call center staff string along lonely men who pay per message to chat with them.
I’ve assumed some sites like OnlyFans have accounts that are just stolen nudes and scammers pretending to be hot women but this is industrialized catfishing.
ChatGPT and midjourney will make running these scams even cheaper. What a crummy way to make a living.

@carnage4life went from the information age to the bullshit age pretty quick eh
@carnage4life isn’t this like one of the many scams that Andrew Tate was running?
@carnage4life Industrialised catfishing, industrialised phone scams, industrialised political push-polling. Fuck, do you even need an actual human Tucker Carlson replacement or can you just train an LLM on his back catalogue and synthesise a whole RWNJ media personality?
@carnage4life Yup. They've been using AI chatbots for a while now. Also not bothering to steal images any longer - they simply generate them from the AI database. It's much cheaper to implement, even with the horrendously low wages they paid people to do it before.
@carnage4life This is deeply cruel. Predatory. Ugh.
@carnage4life there was a talk about this at defcon last year https://adversarial-designs.shop/blogs/blog/taking-chatgpt-on-a-phishing-expedition
