So many variations of tech companies saying they have too many employees. Performance based layoffs with severance, performance based layoffs without severance and now buyouts where you can take an offer to quit with severance.
@carnage4life Don't forget rto
@carnage4life (AKA disabled employees, employees with family, etc etc f u)
@carnage4life An unspoken issue is that the mark of status by certain members of leadership has shifted from having a high headcount to having a high allocation of compute.
@beoff @carnage4life max Revenue Per Human Employee.
@carnage4life The reason they offer buyouts is because they’re at the size they’d have to comply with the WARN Act if they fired too many people at once.
Don’t accept the buyout! Stick together!
If it was really about the money, they’d get rid of a handful of needless “executives” first.
@carnage4life a friend commented the other day that all this stuff is a natural correction to the ZIRP era practice of 'let's hire everybody so our competitors can't have them'.
@carnage4life They're cutting payroll on Pixel/Android so they can pour more money at AI, which frankly, I wish I could disable because I don't trust its results!
Every Google search that shows me an AI summary of the results, I skip right down to the actual search hits. Google won't even give me an option to disable this waste of my time.
