Each day for 30 days I’m going to share one thing I’m grateful for. Something that gives me privilege, hope, and/or joy. Because I need to remind myself of the good stuff.
I’m gonna share them as a thread so they’re all in one place. Okay, let’s go…
Gratitude, Day 1 of 30:
During my orthopedic consultation today, I learned that I don’t need surgery to fix my broken arm. Just some physical therapy and I’ll be good to go.
Gratitude, Day 2 of 30:
1. Air conditioning
2. Medicine for my current string of chronic pain
3. The delightfully positive feedback from my design presentation today
Gratitude, Day 3 of 30:
1. My therapist, who helps me see things clearly.
2. Discovering The StoryGraph (https://www.thestorygraph.com/).
3. The badass tofu my wife made today.
Gratitude, Day 4 of 30:
1. My Mastodon community
2. Vegan ice cream
3. Getting 2nd place in a Rocket League tournament today
Gratitude, Day 5 of 30:
Being able to go to the grocery store and buy what we need when we need it.
Gratitude, Day 6 of 30:
Lazy days with soccer tournaments and dogs on my lap.
Gratitude, Day 7 of 30:
Moments of reconciliation.
Gratitude, Day 8 of 30:
Dogs.
I love them so much that I made this video with a monologue by Ricky Gervais about them (wait for my boy Earl at the end).
Gratitude, Day 9 of 30:
Not feeling grateful today. At all. But that’s the most important time for me to find something that matters.
Air conditioning. So many people suffer the heat. My house and workspace were cool all day. What a privilege and a gift.
Gratitude, Day 10 of 30:
Therapy. It’s raw lemon and sugar wrapped into one.
Oh, that’s lemonade.
Okay, therapy is lemonade. And lemonade is good.
Gratitude, Day 12 of 30:
1. The crisis hotline.
2. Friends who are there for you.
3. More hammock chilling. This time with Lola.
Gratitude, Day 13 of 30:
Being financially stable.
I grew up eating from food boxes for many years. I even had to use my jacket as a pillow, while sleeping on a scratchy couch.
I’m grateful that my kids always have food in the house, a roof over our head, and the necessities we need to live.
My anxiety has me always worrying about money. Every day. But we’re actually doing okay.
I’m so happy about that.
Gratitude, Day 14 of 30:
Eating donuts moments after they were made. Noms af.
Gratitude, Day 15 of 30:
Green vegetables. Your mama was right. Eat ‘em!
(I sound like Popeye: “spinach! Fight me! )
Gratitude, Day 16 of 30:
Not having to get up super early every day for work. Having a job that accommodates my circadian clock is an absolute gift. Here and there I have to rise early. But almost every day I’m allowed to rise at the right time for my body.
Gratitude, Day 17 of 30:
1. Therapy
2. Ice
3. My job
4. My boss
5. My colleagues
6. Sugar
7. My Mastodon community
8. My family
9. Being in a body that heals itself
Gratitude, Day 18 of 30:
1. Portable power banks
2. Pizza
3. Naps
4. Crossing items off my to/do list
Gratitude, Day 20 of 30:
1. Indoor plumbing
2. Lap dogs
3. Soccer tournaments
4. Snacks
5. Cloudy days
6. Family
Gratitude, Day 21 of 30:
Tacos.
@markwyner I was just getting so tired of Goodreads. Thanks for helping me discover StoryGraph.
@aerobender you’re welcome. I didn’t actually know that Goodreads is owned by Amazon. Someone told me that and said they use StoryGraph, so I was sold. Also, they have an import feature, so you can migrate everything from Goodreads. Whoop!
@markwyner Your glasses frames are fabulous, and Earl is adorable.
@hag thank you so much!
@markwyner And we wonder why so many people are #stressed and #unhealthy. Square-peg-round-hole #sleep is #torture. I'm not exaggerating. The #science says so. Wrecking one's nervous system is real and serious. Glad you have a sweet deal
@caterinevauban right? If more people were aware of their circadian clocks and more people accommodated them. Well. Now that’s ROI.
@markwyner ice!!! so great
@markwyner I'm going to try this too. Hope you don't mind my yoinking your idea.
@essjax happy to hear it. I don’t mind at all. In fact, I should have invited folks to do the same in my original post. I hope it serves you well.
