Yep, as I assumed it would be, it's the second gold rush of the year. But this time, there will be real gold to mine, because none of the legacy quirks, issues, overhead, politics, shibboleths, and tropes of the Mastodon/Fediverse firmament are established obstacles.
It will be far more Wild-Wild West than Fedi was because the VC-backed pioneers will be riding on horses with saddlebags stuffed with cash. Brace for impact.
Given the scale they are likely to create very fast (at this rate of hype), that seems almost inevitable. I tried to say this a few weeks ago, and I got a lot of pushback from legacy fedis. But now, while it's too early to say "the writing is on the wall," I'm seeing a lot of people thumbing their crayons.
