Will it be next also full of antibiotics, ( forbidden in EU and other countries ), chemicals, hormones for accelerated growth and steroids and the devil knows what else ? In other words "like in the USA" ? Ah chlorinated chicken maybe later when they'll open "another line of import" ? More good reasons to eat less meat and TRY to buy locally or not eat meat at all.

@gilesgoat @SydesJokes
Exactly, who knows? We'll also get more cases of imported meat marked as 'British'.

@3DayMonk @SydesJokes Oh don't take me wrong I LOVE Brazil and I've been there a few times is maybe "one of my favourite places in the world" but "bad business knows no borders", when there are bad business ideas they are everywhere .. not just there .. we don't even know where "all the meat we get" really comes from or how is really made.

@gilesgoat @SydesJokes Yes. This isn't about Brazil, it's about and vested interests.

@3DayMonk @SydesJokes The thing is, despite ALWAYS taking precautions, as a former pro-cook if you have to keep in mind "the meat could be contaminated" ( with salmonella ) adds a level or precaution/time spent/needed that is non-trivial. You have then really to wash "all that the meat touched" ( NOT THE MEAT, is POINTLESS ) and keep separated equipment for chicken and such and wash more frequently. I am not sure "many would do that properly".

@3DayMonk @SydesJokes Let's add "one more gloom to this mix", if it's not secretly already, I saw once Mythbusters went to visit a facility doing that MY !! You should have seen .. very used for most food in USA "Irradiated food" ( for example to avoid garlic germinates while stored ) .. they BLAST food with can't remember what radiation the point you see occasional electric sparks from the food ( chips for example ) .. "Yo doc I got a tumour" .. "Eh it's a mystery those things happens" ..

@gilesgoat @SydesJokes A great advert for vegetarianism and veganism.

@gilesgoat @SydesJokes In my experience, most people are very lax about meat hygiene at home. Not sure how often restaurants and take-aways are inspected these days but I suspect that it might be another area suffering from government cuts.

@3DayMonk @SydesJokes I knew a friend that once got salmonella, in a quite bad form, it will NOT ( well it should NOT ) kill you but it's BAD, VERY BAD I can't enter some quite gross/gory medical details here but "it will affect everyone that been in touch with you" and "the protocol" to deal with it is .. not so nice .. they have to take samples every X to be sure you are not affected and you will not contaminated others then you have to clean ALL you touch N times a day. It's truly a pain.

Weeeell, my mate Jake has said to me, in private, that it’s only the poor who’ll die and it serves two purposes: saves on future NHS/pension expenditure on the one hand and serves to mitigate overpopulation on the other.
