Amazon delivered a record today in a much bigger box than I was expecting. It turns out the record was in the usual LP mailer... But then they put that inside another box.

(The album was "Steady," the latest release from Sloan.)

A much larger cardboard box than would usually be necessary for one vinyl LP.
The cardboard box is open, revealing packing material and an LP mailer inside.
The usual LP mailer an album would usually come in, now outside of the cardboard box.
A vinyl LP of "Steady" by Sloan , now unpacked from the box that was inside the other box.

@Constantine I guess it's a little extra protection for the record, but it still seems like a bit much!

@Axonite I seem to recall at some point reading that they packed some things to optimise the loading of the delivery van but this seems so unlikely with vinyl!

I don’t often buy records from Amazon but the last two came exactly as yours did!

@Constantine It's been a while since I got a record from Amazon, I think the last one just came in the LP mailer. Maybe the bigger box is easier for them for some reason, but I've had other things show up in envelopes much smaller than that!
