Why yes! Yes, I did just get my #COVID #vaccination, now that you mention it.
Now I’ve had all 3 vaxxes: COVID, flu, RSV.
Your turn!
Congrats!
Thursday, Laffy, thursday. (Might be too early for the flue one, though.--Need to find out if oyu can have it 2x per season, as it doesn't last longer than 2-3 months.)
@HistoPol Go for it!
I'll try to remember posting the doc's response.
I don't really see why it should not be possibel to have a flue shot with a 3-month interval. We'll see.
Ah, did you read? The new shot supposedly seems to help prevent #LongCovid, too. (Probably the most significant benefit, if you are not older than 65 or so.)
@HistoPol @GottaLaff The old shots also help prevent long COVID, and the reduction is roughly a factor of two: 20% chance of LC if infected and not vaxxed versus 10% chance if infected and vaxxed. Very rough numbers, and no reason to stop masking.
Oh, absolutely. Distancing and masking are the best prevention, as far as possible.
Thanks for the simple numbers!--I once saw those from the Fraunhofer Institute re/ different types of masks and their combinations.
The effectiveness was very convincing.
@HistoPol @GottaLaff Here's a study on it. Obviously, it's too soon to know much about LC and the new vaccine.
@MolnarSteven @HistoPol @GottaLaff It's criminal that more than a year after that study specifically warned against using vaccines as the sole #COVID19 mitigation strategy, the U.S. government is doing precisely that, #LongCovid be damned.
Alas, not even general vaccination recommendations for the general public are the norm in many countries.
And I will never understand how masking indoors in big public spaces (train stations, airports, shopping centers, super markets, etc.) cannot be mandatory all the time when there is "flue" season or a surge in infections of any kind. It is such a small thing to ask and do, if temperatures are not too high.
