I happily defended these seats when they first popped up as me and my bad back found them pretty comfortable... little did I know that a not insignificant percentage of them would have been rendered utterly unacceptable for passengers so rapidly
a reminder that these are the most expensive passenger trains in British history

@GarethDennis Weren't the e320s like £70 million?
@GarethDennis I found myself moving from (declassified) first class to standard on a London Midland Desiro the other day, because the cushioning had collapsed on the fancy (and presumably more expensive) first class seating. The standard padding in standard was still fine.
@GarethDennis is it just foam breakdown or something more fundamental? I've not noticed it on the Azumas I've ridden recently, but I'm comparing to the very tired seats on the EMR Meridian fleet
