Will you be getting those troops from the same 'people factory' you'll be getting those builders, yeah?
How are you going to get the Youth to sign up for the Army when we all know you'll be tossed on the scrapheap of life once you're out of the Service? The State exploits us, then ignores us once we are of no use.
Waving flags and being a fan of the Royals doesn't really cut it.
@Lazarou had the chat with my son recently to find out what he would do if drafted into some war with Russia or worse on Israel’s side say. He made a great point: I’ll be there just after the politicians who’ve got us into this situation have put their own kids in the front line.
Precisely.
Oh no. We'd all defend Jews - as we'd defend anyone against colonialism, racism, totalitarianism. It's fascist genociders we're slightly taken against.
@JimmyB @Lazarou
Is that so?
Have you yet realized that you are sitting on your ass, spending time on your phone instead of going to Gaza and helping the IDF, Red Cross, etc distribute aid?
You could be doing a lot of different things to defend them, this is not one of them.
Also, given Israel is defending itself against terrorists who attempted to invade and genocide them, you should really be more supportive.
So you have absolutely no idea what I do. I have been an aid worker for over 30 years, in a wide range of capacities.
Your straw man is ridiculous: do I think chatting on here is defending people in Gaza? Did I say so?
And the suggestion that there is any legitimacy in Israel's actions just makes you a fascist accomplice.
I'd suggest you educate yourself as to what your genocidal, colonial government does and never use the word 'defend' again in relation to them
@JimmyB @Lazarou
You're using the word "fascist" to describe someone you don't like/disagree with, but the reality of that word is very different, and my family knows that quite well. Stop slandering my people. If you hate Jews so much, at least be open about it. You're British, right? If you said you were an antisemite, everyone would believe you…
No - you make a common mistake.
Fascism has some well described principles, notablyt the dehumanisation of the target population, be that Jews, gypsies, gay/trans people, Irish people, black people.
If you read Madeleine Albright's book 'Fascism' you'll get some decent education on what fascism is. Bibi's regime, and the horrible lurch to the right that Israel has experienced since the assassination of Rabin ticks every box to be called fascism.
@JimmyB @Lazarou
Here's a very clear indicator that Israel isn't (yet) a fascist state: we have free and fair elections. Another example: every Israeli, no matter what race or ethnicity, is entitled to the same social services. This include Muslims and Christians, not just Jews. Jews are sill primary citizens, since one of the major points of this country is to protect Jews from real fascist (and bigots like you), though we definetly treat our citizens like real people.
You think you have free and fair elections?
Oh sweet child of summer...
And you treat all like real people? Oh my word.
Have you thought of taking a source which include the voices of those you're including here, rather than extreme right wing propaganda?
@JimmyB @Lazarou
So many politically charged words, my hair is standing on end! Stop being so emotional about this, and try to think about this from the Israeli perspective: on October 7th, many of us witnessed real genocide (the most Jews killed since the holocaust, and the largest terrorist attack since 9/11), and we were scared shitless. We can't let that happen again, and we'll do what we must to ensure that stays that way.
It's funny but genocide - and I've worked in 3 - does make me emotional. Speaking with fascist apologist spouting fascist propaganda makes me emotional too. Casually chatting with a Bibi supporter justifying massacre of palestinians with IDF/Mossad lies. Yup - emotional.
I have thought about it from an Israeli perspective. Extensively. I just have a longer view than you. And I give a shit about more than just my tribe.
@JimmyB @Lazarou
Quick question: how many loved ones have you lost in this conflict? Many of my former high-school teachers were conscripted, and some were KIA. I lost neoghbors, and friends, and my old classmate lost his entire extended family on 10/7. None of us knew what to say to him. Do you understand our motive now?
Oh I understand it. It's the brutal inhumanity of every day Israelis, the ease of the adoption of fascism, and their refusal to extend any empathy in order to cover the horrific massacre of a massively less armed, fundamentally civilian population.
You can try to wriggle: the world knows who you and your fellow murderers are, and there is no justification in the world for genocide.
Here's a thing: the hard part of proving genocide is intent. Intent is clear here.
@JimmyB @Lazarou
How is it clear? When I first got here, I read Haaretz, & thought it was Gospel. I would look out over EJ, & say to myself "This isn't fair, why aren't we doing more to help them?" Since then I've realized the situation is more nuanced than what a bunch of western journalists would like me to believe. We've tried to help them, & they bit the hand that fed them. Just like how I've tried to appeal to our shared humanity, to get you to at least understand, even if you won't agree.
