Stovetop roasted (roasted and brewed by yours truly) and “Seattle cookies” (homemade by the American proprietor of a local onsen ryokan) overlooking the hillside rice paddies at Obasute.

Obasute is one of the few switchback stations left in Japan. It was constructed in 1900 to feed thirsty steam engines. Elevation is 551 meters (1,800 feet).

-where are you obtaining your coffee? Upland Vietnam is very good, but they've made a mess of their market.

@tuban_muzuru for several years I frequently roasted coffee from Laos, Indonesia and Thailand, but Asian coffees available from Japanese distributors are currently prohibitively expensive. This coffee was a blend of beans from Colombia, Honduras and Brazil.
