A good app for notes, but not necessarily a notes app.
UI similar to Apple Notes but it HAS to have an Android + macOS + iOS app and must sync to Nextcloud/Webdav.
I use iWriter Pro, NC Notes and 1Writer now but I'm sick and tired of using Markdown for notes and writing.
Any ideas?
@RockyC ive tried joplin, but doesn't that add extra data in a database? Meaning that the files synced can only be understood by joplin?
@arnan You are correct. Joplin says that while the data is stored in an “open format,” it’s not meant to be directly edited. You CAN, however, use external editors to edit your notes.
They do have an option to export all of your stuff to a “raw” format, which doesn’t sound very friendly, but HTML and PDF export also exist.
So if Joplin goes belly-up tomorrow, I can still access and export my stuff.
@RockyC I was/am trying to integrate it with Nextcloud Notes, but perhaps that bit is not needed as much as I think and I just need to sync whatever the app does. In that case the extra joplin stuff wouldn't be an issue.
Maybe I'll have another go at it.

@RockyC Do you know if Joplin can also do notes without markdown? I'm kinda sick of the format and its limitations. Or does Joplin's UI 'fix' that with good control of table formatting and image usage and such?
@arnan Nope. Joplin is #markdown on purpose, so if that doesn’t work for you, it may not be a good option.
It took me a bit to get used to markdown, and I was definitely hostile towards learning it in the beginning, but Joplin being open source, cross-platform, and the ability to sync privately were all features that I demanded, so I learned markdown and now #Joplin has become a storage closet for my brain - just indispensable.
But I totally get how markdown isn’t for everyone.
@RockyC It's not so much about learning MD, it's stupidly simple to use.
It's just that I haven't found any decent apps for it and coming from Apple Notes - Most of my Notes either don't convert properly or outright won't work. Like having an image in a note as a drag and drop thing...
It's frustrating and stupid and thus not an upgrade or improvement over Apple notes. If Joplin manages to fix those irritations with Markdown then that's fine. Guess I'll have to experiment a bit more.
