Aviram Azari, a hacker hired by Exxon to break into the accounts of climate activists to dig up dirt, has been sentenced to 80 months in prison.

This incident reminds me of the 2009 "Climategate" incident, when Russian hackers broke into the accounts of climate scientists, stealing emails, manipulating them, and releasing them (via Wikileaks) to drum up fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the veracity of climate research right before the Copenhagen Summit
