I uninstalled the Twitter app today. It’s just gotten too tedious for me between the random changes to the app and most content (including mine) being complaining about Elon Musk.

Currently planning to back to reddit for reading news and will use Mastodon for sharing ideas.

@carnage4life Still there to watch things unfold, but shifted the conversations here instead.
Still not sure about post.news, which is where some journalists I follow seem to be migrating to.

@carnage4life even before musk took over, trending topics was such a mess of celebrity gossip and bot-driven trends that i’d already switched to apple news for instant updates and rss for daily digests. made it easy to stop using twitter for that

@carnage4life

where do you go to read news on reddit? (i’ve been on reddit for years but always used twitter for news)

@eleanorina I read /technology and /programming for tech news.

@carnage4life ty! good to know, i’ve tended to stick to smaller subreddits thinking the noise to signal would be too high on those

@carnage4life same, and same setup.

Kinda wanting some RSS to supplement since a lot of my (heavily tailored) news came from people I followed that haven’t made it here yet. But, not the same.

@carnage4life hi, do you think this app will grow?
I understand why you leave twitter but i’m also hesitant about this platform’s continuity.
It doesnt seem that it has the userbase neither the product features yet.
That’s why i’m curios to know why you invest your energy here instead.
Thank you

@carnage4life glad you’re here, you’re a great follow.

@carnage4life I’m with you. I still have it installed but just to do some cleanup, look for favorite people here, etc. then it will be deleted. I’m done with twitter.

@carnage4life congrats on making the leap... inspiring. :)

@carnage4life can you talk about what you follow or how you use Reddit to follow news? That’s my main use of Twitter and I’m looking for alternatives.

@nick I use the /technology and /programming subreddits to read tech news. I also use Techmeme but it’s heavily influenced by what Twitter users like (e.g. Fund raising, crypto and Twitter drama) which is why I also use reddit.
