This headline must have been written by someone who’s never been on a plane before. A $3,500 headset doesn’t make sitting in a cramped economy seat with a bag of peanuts feel lime first class.
@carnage4life Medically sedated air travel needs to be a thing.
@carnage4life I have a 12” wide seat but it feels like I am lying in a queen size bed with my vision pro on
@carnage4life I am really tired of people saying things like: “If you can afford to shell out $3,500 for an Apple developer's new plaything, then you can afford to shell out additional funds to fly first class and have the space required to enjoy this experience fully.”
WAT?
$3,500 for a complete computer system that will likely last for at least 5 years, given my past experience with Apple computers, comes out to about $60/month, even if you throw in a $100 Bluetooth keyboard for typing. That seems expensive, but it is far less than any of us were paying for computers 30 years ago. Compare it to the price of a MacBook Pro with two large 4K external monitors, and it doesn’t seem expensive at all. I can certainly see purchasing one at some point.
On the other hand, $3,500 for a single round-trip first-class ticket from the USA to Europe? That’s crazy talk!
@carnage4life when you’re tall and the guy in front of your reclines as far as he can for the entire flight and his seat digs into your knees for 11 hours… the only $3,500 that’ll make it better is to buy an actual business class seat.
@carnage4life You can afford a $4K (incl tax) and 8K experience, ya aint in economy!
@carnage4life can say from recent experience a few hundred bucks to buy a Switch and a game (and more importantly, 1000s saved) was enough to convince myself out of a business class seat for a flight. But it’s a fragile calculus once the digital distraction costs more than the flight ticket itself: Is that headset going to be 7 times more delightful and easier to pack on a plane than a Switch? Is it going to be 3 times more than a decent iPad?
