Where is Kilmar Abrego Garcia?
He is a legal resident of the US. He is accused of no crime, past or present.
He was kidnapped by unidentified US agents and rushed overseas to a El Salvador's most notorious prison—stripped naked, his head shaved.
The US admits his seizure was a mistake but refuses to bring him home.
A judge ordered him returned by Monday, but the Supreme Court said there was no reason to hurry.
And now? Nothing. Abrego Garcia is either imprisoned or dead.
@gleick it's like due process isn't just useless red tape, who'd have thought?
(Yes, I understand that for the current government of the most powerful country, it's not a bug, it's a feature. But let's hope some of its supporters will finally open their eyes, if possible before my own country follows suit)
@gleick They're not gonna return him, because if they do he'll tell the world about whatever the hell goes on in that atrocious place.
Everyday that Injustice Roberts keeps "thinking" about requiring Garcia to be returned is a day of cruel and unusual punishment he is responsible for. The entire US government is illegitimate and acting otherwise is complicity.
If his name were John Smith (or John Roberts), there'd be a rush.
@gleick We’re all at risk of being Kilmared sooner or later.
