A walk of the Teign Gorge circuit from Castle Drogo today, finishing with a meander through the castle gardens. I loved these bee-friendly borders.

A view from a path high up above the River Teign gorge on Dartmoor, looking across yellow-flowered gorse covered slopes to the grey granite Castle Drogo (a ‘new’ castle built in the 1920s). The castle is on a promontory overlooking the gorge and the tors of Dartmoor which are on the skyline in the photo. A clear blue sky, not a cloud.
Photo of the river Teign taken from the centre of a footbridge looking upstream. Green mossy boulders line the river banks. Trees lean over the water creating dappled shade. The water is flowing gently, clear but reddish-brown from the peat of the moors, this colour really highlighted in the bottom right where a shaft of sunlight catches it.
A striking, slightly blocky-looking, castle built of grey granite stone - a modern (20th century) castle which tries to emulate a medieval-ish style. The flat roof & towers are crenellated & it has leaded windows. Recently renovated, the stone looks like new. The Devon flag flies from the town of the keep. Clear blue sky behind.
A garden path weaves between beautiful flower borders, full of colourful flowers (such as sedum, salvia, scabious, asters) humming with bees & other insects. The path leads to an area with formal hedges. Trees & shrubs beyond. Clear blue sky.
