@chris Joplin is more open since, well, it‘s open-source. But it definitely does not offer more functionality than Obsidian. You can also sync your notes in a lot of different ways other than paid sync option in Obsidian.

@chris2 If we compare the count, I believe Obsidian has around ~2100 plugins currently. So, very roughly, it can be translated to having more functionality.
Additionally, Joplin was not saving notes as Markdown files to the disk directly as far as I remember, but using a database. This, IMO, blocks many things in terms of extendability. Because even if I delete Obsidian, I still have my notes on my disk to do whatever I want.
