We are now trivia champs three weeks running with another blowout. Second place finished more than 20 pts behind us
Team name: Cory Booker Is Still Talking
We swept the first round, category ‘vowelless’ — all answers contained no vowels. Best q of that round:
What is the Welsh word for valley?
(We also swept ‘name the TV next door neighbor’ but embarrassingly missed, “After Elon Musk, who has the second most twitter followers?”
@kims something I know because my wife is welsh!
I believe it’s dyffryn.
Learnt when I visited this spot https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wales/dyffryn-gardens
@xconde
That's a great answer but not the one they wanted
Both 'cwm' and 'dyffryn' translate to 'valley' in English. However, the word 'cwm' has a more distinct meaning. 'Cwm' is often attributed to rounded, glaciated valleys such as a corrie or cirque, while 'dyffryn' refers to more extensive valleys such as Dyffryn Ogwen (Ogwen valley).
They wanted 'cwm' and because I am a Scrabble player, I happened to know that one. [Had we written 'dyffryn' I might have challenged and probably won]
@kims if I was at that quiz I’d be so disappointed they didn’t take my answer!
But they wanted cwm and your gave it to them. Good!
(Sorry, I have never been able to take this word seriously - it’s been 20 years since my first visit to wales and I still giggle)
