These 2 images look like magnified cell cultures, right?
They are actually samples of textures in watercolor mini-washes. Texture in the all blue was created by sprinkling pickling salt. The second, blue with reddish blobs, was created with sprinkled quinoa.
I also sampled with sesame & chia seeds. The former resembles the quinoa, but with more oblong shapes. The chia seeds….. they stuck to the paper & lifted paper fibers off. #mastodonart #watercolors #paintingfun
Upon seeing the quinoa wash, I realized this might be the solution to a wash for blood cells and a trypanosoma painting I have wanted to do. Lost the fantastic photo capture of a T. theileri (from infected cow in Ohio) whipping an erythrocyte with flagellum until it burst. Hoping to draw/paint part of it from memory (one of the few clear memories from 2002 ).
