The Tōdai-ji temple at Nara has many deer around it in the nearby park. Despite there being a lot of these pointy bois and many posted signs, people get rrrreally close to them, which they don't entirely love (unless you've bought them a cracker.) FAFO, I guess.

@mike_edwards they can be pretty aggressive if you have crackers (and try to be funny with them), from what I saw. Then again they will bow too (which my kids returned)

@mike_edwards And it's not just the males! My son (who was maybe three at the time) got too close to a fawn and the mother whacked him in the chest with her front hooves and knocked him over. He wasn't hurt (I'm sure the mother knew he was a child and not a real threat), but he learned his lesson!

I didn't see anyone get whacked, but one male looked frustrated enough with his too-close admirers
