Dune pt 2 was quite good, although it's something that even with two movies and 5 hours, it felt like it was rushing the end almost as much as the Lynch version.
(Having never read it, maybe it's the source material.)
Also I love Denis Villeneuve's visuals, but his aversion to color saturation makes it feel like he's directing the West Elm catalog.
@notting at least it had a more faithful ending than Lynch’s version ️
@andyflisher No rain, but also no creepy kid. Tradeoffs!
@notting The book wraps up pretty quickly too.
@mpirnat Interesting. Probably for the best that they didn't try a Hobbit-style expansion of book events.
@notting Oh definitely! If they did need to pad this one out there was material from the first book they could have used but didn’t. I think it worked fine, and my only disappointments are in some classic lines of dialog being omitted (like in Part 1 where Gurney lectures Paul about not being “in the mood” and we don’t get the “Mood’s a thing for cattle and love play!” line).
@notting had the same impression, cleary they should have made a 3 seasons series instead
