Hey, does anyone know if anyone at is on the fediverse?. Or does anyone know of any decentralized or initiatives?

Since all the / services for movies and TV are rapidly gaining Peak , and where I can't buy a DRM or platform unlocked copy (I have no probs paying for it), I've been turning back to torrentz.

Like why can't we just post here? or in a special channel or hashtag?

Lets see. Can has magenet URI?

Nope, first problem - magnet URIs aren't shortened to the 23 "short URL" form by mastodon. So we need a magnet URI shortener.

I mean I can also go back to the Pirate Bay and donate to them for the good fight... but eventually I feel TPB and others are gonna lose; hopefully not, but I'm concerned its inevitable.

@Andres Excellent! Guess I gotta read up on my torrent/magnet URI knowl3dge, I want to know a bit more about how those work before diving into a rabbit hole of a distributed URI database/channel.

@tezoatlipoca
Be aware of the rule 4 of mas.to "No content illegal in the following countries: United Kingdom, Germany" ripped content can be considered illegal and linking even with magnet links can get the admins in trouble.

@Andres@hardcoredevs.com Ah. Yes, thanks for reminding me of that, hadn't even considered the instance agreement terms. :)

Hrmm. So lets say there was a magnet-URI instance. Following an account from that instance spitting out mURIs would either get that account, or the entire instance blocked/de-fed'd on any subscribing instance.

So in reality even if we had a federation of torrent dbs, they'd likely be isolated from most of the major fediverse platforms anyway.

@tezoatlipoca I honestly haven't heard anything about the Pirate Bay in ages.
