I'm finding it hard to make up my mind about 's threats against .

On the one hand, I absolutely support their aims and agree that climate change is the overarching threat to our society in general and LGBT+ people in particular.

On the other hand, the tone of their "demands" is concerning, and I can see why their decision to go on the offensive can feel not only counter-productive but, as some have said, like punching down on a community already under newly growing pressures

What I find strange, though, is that, unless I am mistaken, this is the 1st time they make demands from the event they plan to (possibly) disturb. Usually it seems they just use the event as a stage and amplifier for their stunts. Why the change of tactic just for Pride?

The corporatisation of Pride is a real problem and one we've been wrestling with for year.

JSO clumsily jumping in at the last minute is not going to change anything, and may even make things worse. This seems myopic at best

I may just have made up my mind after all!

@zefrog The energy I’m going with is “Come on then. Bring your chaos. We ARE the chaos!”

If there is some sort of incident, I can see editors minds breaking with “We don’t want to legitimise Pride by actually reporting about it, but we’ll miss out on all the handwringing over JSO if we don’t.”

@mdonkin i don't particularly mind JSO taking action it's more what seems to be the unprecedented bullying approach towards was is still essentially a community event, despite all the branding
