Seis #euros por número de #móvil, 1,5 por #email: el lucrativo #negocio de #Changeorg https://bit.ly/changepuntoorg
Ah, so at least the confirmation of my #changeDotOrg "membership" made it through after some moments.
Whatever credibility there was by promoting change, this way of interacting with people believing in a cause has burned it to the ground for me.
Interactions like these make me petition my MP for regulating / criminalising the use of such #deceptive #darkpatterns.
Ah, some online petition on #changeDotOrg for a worthy cause; okay, I will sign it. Hm, support this cause with a donation sounds good, I guess, I heard from them; okay, I will donate some bucks. Hm, I have been buying ad views for my cause - a bit strange, but... well, it's the cause.
Ah, my confirmation of my donation... ah, and... a confirmation of... a monthly donation membership in the same amount - how unexpected?!?
There are some really #good and important #issues that could be supported on #ChangeDotOrg. I really would love to #support some of them
Unfortunately they depend on #google , its #services, and worst of all they point directly to Google’s #PrivacyPolicy on their website
I want to support a #GoodCause or 2, not sell my soul.
Is there anything yet similar, in the #fediverse?
Could there be?
Petitions tend to target 1 level of government (or sometimes a corp). I don’t think I’ve seen one that targets multiple govs or entities. Since I #boycott #changeDotOrg I don’t see many petitions. Is this a thing? E.g. is it feasible in the state of CA to petition to remove #surveillanceCapitalists from public schools & in the same petition demand the feds expand #FERPA? #askfedi
@jrkuvoski @NaturalNews that #petition is only reachable on a restricted access #Cloudflare website. It's really not worth it to promote the kind of exclusive selective #democracy that #changeDotOrg pushes. It's anti-democratic. BTW NaturalNews, your website has the same problem. I can't see your article. Perhaps rightly so, I don't get the impression your articles good quality anyway.
@selea @dsfgs i was going to mention that but i've called out so many #changeDotOrg #petition pushers that i have no way of knowing whether i've already nagged someone about it. I will never sign a Cloudflared petition because I cannot support a /selective democracy/ whereby only ppl willing to compromize privacy get to participate in a democratic process.
@woozle @dysphoricunicorn That's a bad place for a petition because #changeDotOrg is a privacy-abusing and exclusive #CloudFlare site. I will never sign a chg dot org #petition. Important petitions should be on sites like http://openpetition.org/
@freemo @marathon It's convenient & time-saving to know this. Anytime a #petition is on #ActionNetwork.org, #ChangeDotOrg, or #MoveOn.org, it's easy to ignore it before even reading what it's about. Whatever it is, it's not worth your drop-in-the-ocean sig to risk your privacy & help someone undermine what should be a democratic process. If a petition is on #openpetition.org then it's worth a look.
@curufuin @BernieOrVest Bernie is the better man but I'll never sign a change.org petition b/c #changedotorg forces everyone to connect to #privacy & #netneutrality abuser #CloudFlare.
@switchingsoftware @swisode @tobias I'm glad you condemn change .org (https://switching.software/replace/change.org/), but there is a much better reason to avoid #changedotorg than what you give. Change.org is a #CloudFlare site, which means ppl are *excluded* from signing #petitions. Petitions to be available to all ppl. CF is also a privacy abuser, so supporting a good cause becomes entangled w/a bad actor.
