High cortisol isn’t a health concern for most people, despite claims you may have seen online. Wellness influencers blame cortisol for a host of ailments, including bloating, fatigue, irritability and overly “puffy” faces and waists.

Any #science #endocrinology #doctor types or knowledgeable patients out there?
Have some questions before I spend money I don’t have re #DHEA & #pregnenolone.:
I’m trying to find a good compounding chemist in #Melbourne #Ausralia to compound DHEA (it’s illegal in Aus to buy off the shelf, need compounding prescription & permit- got both).
BUT! I’m getting confused by the chemists. Some say I must get a DHEA troche or a capsule will convert straight to #estrogen or #testosterone, no chance to tap DHEA receptors (unsure if they exist). I’ve also read it modulated other receptors before being metabolised.Wouldn’t I be better off w a cream in that case? Other compounders say there’s no difference. BS?
I thought #pregnenolone
might help more. It’s the ‘mother hormone’, right?
Since I caught #COVID19 I’m mostly producing low hormones but it varies. Cortisol normalised, still on thyroid meds, oestrogen shot up, no DHEA or testosterone…plus much more going on.
Any #science #endocrinology #doctor types out there?

Can anyone help? I’ve been through multiple doctors, asked pharmacist and they all contradict themselves and each other or don’t know what either home does.

You’ll up relying on people who don’t know how medicine works. Very few knowledgeable people.

Scientician wants to better understand the molecular basis of circadian timekeeping and HOLY COW DAYLIGHT SAVINGS STARTS THIS WEEKEND
The NEJM @nejm posted a blistering commentary on the shitty, biased, incompetent and frankly illegal Cass review. It's v well written, though unfortunately paywalled.
"The report deviates from pharmaceutical regulatory standards in the United Kingdom. And if it had been published in the United States, where it has been invoked frequently, it would have violated federal law"
Has anyone taken raloxifene (as non-binary feminising HRT), and not subsequently switched to oestradiol (E2)?
The poll's really just in case someone says "yes" but doesn't want to comment. I'm happy to receive answers in the far future. (I'm trying to study endocrinology through the medium of anecdote.)
i could use all in-network providers. though especially for therapy and #endocrinology it would be insanely inconvenient, to say the least, to interrupt the continuity of those medical teams. i've done it before, it sucks. especially if you have shit insurance whose in-network providers are just shite. deducted from my pay for 2024 med insurance: >$2700. so... $2700 + $2000 + $3000 = $7700. not to mention the $6k paid into my plan by employer, making it nearly $14k in all. INSANE. #MuteMe 3/x

The study in mice concluded that eating fewer calories—caloric restriction (CR)—had a greater impact on lifespan than intermittent fasting (IF), revealing that very low calorie diets generally extended an animal’s lifespan regardless of their body fat or glucose levels—both typically seen as markers of metabolic health and aging.

Funny thing about thyroid problems and dyscalculia: the way TSH is calculated is super confusing to my brain, so I read it as my TSH being high. Turns out it's low, but it has been for long enough, (and far enough out of healthy range) for my endocrinologist to be concerned.
So I have Subclinical Hypothyroidism.

Any #pwME have Thyroid issues?
I may have Hyperthyroidism which is so interesting to me, since Hypothyroidism was ruled out before I was diagnosed with ME/CFS almost 2 decades ago and my thyroid panel was always a little low until very recently.
Is it true what my endocrinologist says, that blood tests for progesterone aren’t informative for trans women and that we just have to try what dosage works best?

I don't know why #imanekhelif was disqualified from the International Boxing League last year, but it was allegedly #hormone related. As someone who has #pcos, it's frustrating that people don't know there's a lot of reasons people have hormone imbalances besides being #transgender or #intersex. I'm not sure what Khelif's condition is (she's not obligated to tell us) but I consider her a #cyster regardless. Glad she got gold and I wish her luck with the lawsuit. #Endocrinology #Olympics
