I'm just writing to say that I finally uploaded my PGP key to Keybase! You can now easily verify signed content or send me encrypted messages using my key at keybase.io/aaccioly. Let’s be real... Probably no one will. Still, I’d love to be proven wrong! 🤣

I’ll also be setting up WKD for all my relevant email addresses soon. I'm finally upgrading to a "modern" PGP experience.

Наконец в интернетики стали заливать конкретику про работу госрегулятора с реестром организаторов распространения информации (ОРИ).

#Viber заблокировал 13 декабря 2024 года. По информации РКН: «доступ к сервису Viber ограничен в связи с нарушением требований российского законодательства к ОРИ, выполнение которых необходимо для предотвращения угроз использования мессенджера в террористических и экстремистских целях, вербовки граждан для их совершения, продажи наркотиков, а также в связи с размещением противоправной информации». #Viber в реестр ОРИ добавлен только 21 января 2025 года.

Видимо, был добавлен туда принудительно. Например, после игнорирования подряд второго требования добавиться самостоятельно. Т.е. была использована данная норма из-за повторного неисполнения обязанности по представлению в #Роскомнадзор уведомления о начале осуществления деятельности в качестве ОРИ.

Очень может быть, что по ряду политизированных соображений #Viber просто отказался вести диалог с РКН и потому госрегулятор воспользовался своими полномочиями, предусмотренными на подобные случаи. Однако, штрафов на Viber не накладывалось?

#Cloudflare дважды не исполнила обязанность по уведомлению РКН о начале деятельности в качестве ОРИ, назначены штрафы в размере 100 тысяч рублей и 1 млн рублей. 19 февраля 2025 года принудительно включена в реестр ОРИ

Утверждается, что в 2023 и 2024 году Роскомнадзор на основании обращений ФСБ России направил в адрес иностранной компании Cloudflare, Inc. требования о необходимости уведомить ведомство о начале осуществления деятельности в качестве #ОРИ.

В соответствии с постановлением правительства № 1824 (от 12 ноября 2020) года РКН действовал исходя из обращения федерального органа власти (исполнительной), осуществляющего оперативно-розыскную деятельность или обеспечение госбезопасности.

19 декабря 2024 года Роскомнадзор внёс в реестр ОРИ:

Что это означает?

Включённые в реестр ОРИ обязаны хранить переписку российских пользователей в течение полугода и передавать их по запросу правоохранительных органов. Причём, согласно есть уточнение — хранить на территории России в течение шести месяцев и сообщения пользователей и информацию о мета-данные. Не просто предоставлять в силовые органы, но и установить оборудование для обеспечения удалённого доступа ФСБ к информации о пользователях и их действиях (СОРМ).

Что замечательного?

А значит, если что-то из софта или сервисов блокируют на ТСПУ, то этот кто-то наверняка есть в ОРИ и отказался сотрудничать, выдавая сообщения и мета-данные, а предоставлять сведения о действиях пользователей.

Есть ещё вариант, что включённый в ОРИ может некоторое время не подвергаться блокировкам, но это не будет длиться долго.

Тот же #WhatsApp или уже сотрудничает по всем этим составляющим или же будет вот-вот заблокирован.

И ясно, почему и зачем блокируются мессенджеры, которыми по стране пользовалось полтора гика, но при этом не трогаются такие как Skype и WhatsApp.

It would seem like identity and domain verification are a hot topic again:

Cybersquatting is not a new issue, of course, but Bluesky’s decision to tie verification to domains as social proof shows the limitations of the strategy. After all, if Conor Sen doesn’t want to register his namesake domain, it just takes one questionable party to do it instead, put up a fake email signup form, and register an account. Domains simply don’t offer enough in the way of social proof for the average person.

This reminds me of Keybase.io. It’s a service that had potential as a centralized identity verification service. I enjoyed its simplicity and its support for developer tools. Unfortunately, they were acquired by Zoom and it seems the service was since mothballed. Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Gravatar as an alternative. I know I’m biased, but I think it has become a really good identity verification service nowadays.

Or maybe, we should just forget those external services to manage our content, and have everything on our own personal site like this one 🙂

I just had something remind me of #keybase - does anyone still use that? I remember it being an interesting idea back in the day but seem to recall it got bought or something. Is it still a thing? Haven't used it at all in a long time, and even then just as a novelty.

@dymaxion for some reason my private replies hang not sure which activist-(cyber)security culture handbook community you mean ...I have seen security - in - a - box which seems to hit a sweet spot between technical sophistication and accessibility...generally activist space chatter about "security culture" broadly tends to be a lot of hot air but when it comes to tech there isn't much...just, people learn how to use PIN-not-biometrics on their phone and learn how to use #signal and #keybase and leave it at that. A few people use #protonmail but most use terrible browsers, or think #opera is safe, which it isn't.

Sometimes my work desktop UI freezes hard on unlock and the solution is to SSH in, find the keybase-redirector process (which runs as root and is doing some filesystem jiggery pockery that causes the freeze) and send it a kill signal as an ordinary user (I don't have root on this machine). I find it odd, both that this can happen and that this workaround can work. #Keybase #Linux
