Here’s the data the #NIH can collect from your medical history for its ‘#autism database’

Story by Julia Musto, 4/23/2025

Excerpt: "While it remains unclear exactly what data will be collected, under the presented platform NIH researchers could have access to:

- Americans’ #prescription information, including the type of medication and how they are prescribed
- Data collected during medical studies in a multitude of areas and from public and private institutions
- Data collected from peoples’ #smartwatches, which can range from heart health to sleep patterns
- #Claims from private insurers that can cover items such as lengthy hospital stays, #screening and testing
- Data from the Centers for #Medicare and #Medicaid Services, which includes #referrals to specialists, enrollment, #diagnoses, and more "

"As Republicans in Congress consider cutting the federal share of Medicaid funding, states are weighing numerous options to scale back their programs. But voters in three states have significantly limited those options by enshrining Medicaid expansion in their constitutions — creating a potential budget disaster and a political challenge for the GOP."

@KimPerales Ohio has a trigger law in the 2026 budget that would rollback Ohio's Medicaid Expansion automatically if federal funding matching dropped a certain percentage. That would remove coverage for at least 770,000 people in Ohio.

The law specifies that if the federal matching rate (FMAP) for medical assistance provided to Group VIII enrollees is set below 90%, ODM must immediately terminate medical assistance for members of the group.

It passed the House and is moving to the Senate now. Ohio is a trifecta GOP control super-majority state. Both the House and Senate, Governorship and the Supreme Court. #Medicaid #Ohio #ACA #USPol

In Hobbs, #NewMexico, Sherif says about 85% of his patients are on #Medicaid, the federal & state #HealthInsurance program for #LowIncome Americans. His clinic orders about $50,000 worth of #measles, #chickenpox & other #vaccines per month through the program, he says, an amount of #money impossible for his small clinic to afford if not covered by the federal program.

“If I were to buy them by myself, I would not get enough for my patients,” he said.

Well it looks like the cuts to provider payments from New Hampshire Medicaid don’t start until January 1, which is good news.

I imagine they’ll start closing practices immediately after that, but at least we’ll have healthcare providers for the rest of this year.

Both sources, who were not authorized to speak publicly, said they expected the policy to come from the agency that oversees #Medicare and #Medicaid health programs.

The first source said he had been told directly by govt #health officials that they were exploring such a policy, which he described as a mid-level priority for the #Trump Administration as it tries to lower #drug prices.

The legislation follows a ProPublica and Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting investigation on a $2 billion Medicaid fraud scheme that targeted Native Americans seeking drug and alcohol treatment.
